Hey Cinnagirl,

I'm getting married at Jellyfish next year and I'm going crazy trying to decide which resort I should choose. I've stayed at the Riu palace punta cana which is pretty, but sorta boring. I've been looking into Now Larimar, Majestic resorts, and Dreams Palm Beach as options. The Majestic resorts are beautiful, but I've read several reviews about bad food, my fiance thinks Now is cheesy, so I'm looking into Dreams. Why did you choose Dreams? Do the rooms have outdoor jacuzzis? How long was the car ride from the resort to Jellyfish? Any other tips i should know?

Thank you so much!

Hi My Belle!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. You will LOVE Jellyfish!! You made a great choice. :) I'll be writing my review for the restaurant soon and posting it in the Jellyfish forum.

We chose Dreams because we heard great things about the resort chain in general (my brother in law was going to get married at a Dreams in Los Cabos), and we chose Dreams Palm Beach because it is relatively close to the Jellyfish (15 minute cab ride) and we got a reasonable price for our guests. We ended up really liking Palm Beach because it's a smaller resort, so it was much easier to run into our guests during the day for spending time with them. The rooms do not have outdoor jacuzzis, but to be honest, we only used ours once and that was once all of our guests left. The food in the restaurants is really good, and we loved the Italian restaurant in particular. There were some negatives as well, but overall I'm happy with our choice of resort for our wedding group. Hope that helps a bit! Let me know if there's any other questions I can help with. :)

Hi Mekai,

I just got married at DPB a few weeks ago & Vanessa was my wedding planner. If you are having problems getting return emails call Vanessa. The best time to call is in the morning around 9:15 or 9:30. Have all your questions ready and she will answer them.  I know its frustrating not getting return emails

I just received an email from Vanessa and she said if I bring my own chair sashes there is a $100-$200 penalty fee! WTH? That is super crazy. I cant even believe there would be a such a penalty fee. It would be cheaper to just use their sashes. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

That seems a little high priced for just the set up... Will they let you have someone from your group be assigned to do this part? I have read a lot of people on here have brought theie own sashes so hopefullu they have some great suggestions:)

Hi I bought my own sashes with me as well as favors and I had the sashes moved from the ceremony to the reception because I only bought enough to reuse them for both and they charged me like $50 to set them up in both locations .. I would double check with that

Yes, they charged me $100 bucks for sashes and table overlays which I thought was ridiculous but I really didn't care. They didn't have the exact green I wanted so I just paid it because that's what I wanted.

Wow! I cant believe how they try to nickel and dime us brides :(

They kinda do but it's worth it it looks amazing and it turns out great.. I paid $5 pp to have purple napkins and I had 33 guests so I almost died when I heard this and honestly I don't even think anyone noticed the purple napkin between the beautiful flowers and the lighting from the dj ect so that stuff I would just opt out if .. Would have rather put 175 some else than napkins!

Yes, $175 could have gone towards something else but you live and learn I guess. I am trying to cut costs anywhere possible so special flowers or shashes are not something I am really concerned about. I am not even doing party favors since my guests wont really care about them anyways and its just more stuff for them to lug around. A fan would be a good idea though for the outside beach ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
