Sheraton Rant

Hi Fogdog,

We have the same wedding date! So many of us (about 4) here at BDW are getting married on that day! I was supposed to get married at the Sheraton and I was going to have the reception at De Cortez. I found it difficult working with them.

They should have been upfront about this right from the start. Did they know from the beginning that they are closing the restaurant? Didn't you sign a contract? They should have told you the price for what is considered a restaurant buyout right from the start. Not now when your wedding is almost here.

We are getting married at Sunset da Mona Lisa and to have the Salon to ourselves, we are paying a minimum consumption fee. REgardless of the number of guests we have to pay the fee to have the Salon private. And they told us this from the beginning and it was stated in the contract.

For future brides, I highly highly recommend Sunset da Mona Lisa! Their sales manager Emma is so professional, so nice and so easy to deal with. She was the reason we decided to go with Sunset da Mona Lisa. I agree with all of the above, your wedding coordinator should be on top of this too.

Great news!

I heard from the Sheraton today that they will honor the menu prices they sent over. This makes a huge difference to me and how I am feeling about them and I am so happy they took my dissatisfaction seriously. I'm not sure exactly how it happened bc I never called them and I didn't ask my WC to (as I was still mulling it over) but she just sent the email out of the blue today.

I've found them difficult in some areas so far, but this says to me they actually care and were concerned about me being mad and so I'm hopeful that it will get better!

happy friday to me!

De Cortez has two different areas, the patio outside, and the restaurant inside, may be you can negotiate instead of closing the entire restaurant and charge you and extra fee, just have the outside location for you, and keep the regular service inside, in this case I don´t see the point of charge you more.
Talk to Irma
Good luck

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
