Wedding party expenses- what are brides & grooms paying for?

Recommended Posts

I'm going through the same dilemma and thought process. I rented out 2 villas out and was planning on paying for those and not charging anyone accomodations, but no one wants me to do that for them..

I may have to resort and pay for my bridal parties outfits than and help in that matter. We'll see. I'll have to wait and decide as it gets closer.

as guests to a dw, i don't expect the bride and groom to pay for our trip even if our daughter is asked to be the flower girl so for some to say that the guests and the wedding party are getting a sweet vacation or a treat to go to the wedding is offensive.  we go to the wedding because we want to be there to celebrate the special day with the bride and groom.  we would rather go some place else for our vacation. the expenses are in the thousands for the guests and the wedding party to be there so don 't act like we are putting a burden on the bride and groom but rather be grateful that the guests and the wedding party think highly enough of the bride and groom to take time off and spend the money to be there on their special day.  (excuse me for not capitalizing after the period.  my tablet is acting weird and i cannot capitalize any letter.)

We are paying for the guys shirts (only because they were custom ordered) and I bought the flower girl dress (I found the perfect dress on clearance for $12). The bridesmaids will pay for their own dresses (they can actually wear them again) and the guys will pay for their own pants. If finances allow we are going to treat the boys to a day of deep sea fishing and the girls a day at the spa!

Since I am new to the whole wedding thing, as the first of my friends to get married, I tried to educate myself on wedding etiquette. Lots of the the blogs say that we, the bride & groom, are responsible for either the flights or accomodations for our wedding party. I did not know this until now. ( yes, I should have educated myself sooner!)

So, I'm kind of taking her lead on that stuff. Originally I had thought I might buy my girls dresses, but she didn't buy ours I don't want to be insulting by buying hers (my parties) dresses.  Just some really awesome BM gifts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
