Changing my dress?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! I'm new here on BDW, but have been a long time stalker. My fiancee and I were originally planning a wedding at home here in Oregon, but after all of the drama (and money figures) we've decided to plan an elopement (I guess?) with no guests for the beginning of next year. We're going to be getting married on Lanikai Beach on Oahu, and neither of us can wait!

I purchased my dress last week actually, and had to wear it over the weekend for an inspiration shoot for a friend's blog. I love the dress, but now that we're getting married on the beach I'm second guessing it. As I'm looking through these photos, I'm worried about how the dress will look against a beach scene. Plus, I've always wanted an organza skirt, and I think this is that perfect chance now that we're going to be in the tropics. The dress isn't heavy by any means, it's pretty light, but I just can't stop thinking that maybe I should switch my gown...what do you all think??

Your dress is pretty...

I think that you should go with your gut... if you have always had your heart set on an organza dress, maybe try it out?

Not sure though, but I think this might be the perfect opportunity to do what you have always wanted.

That is a beautiful dress!!  I think you need to go with your heart and at least go dress shopping again.  You may realize your original dress is still the dress, but you may also find your dream dress.  I say go with it, especially since your venue has changed and you will be getting married on a beach.

Thanks, JayKay! I think I will. I'm going to wind up ordering a replica gown from DHGate, but I may wear this one for the AHR. I'm kind of glad that I had this "test run" if you will because I honestly wouldn't have been that happy on my wedding day. I just didn't get that feeling once I had my hair and makeup all done and everything.

After reading other threads on here, I'm glad to see I'm not totally nuts for second guessing my gown!

Gorgeous dress!

Maybe you could go shopping again just to see what's out there?  If you find an organza dress that you fall in love with, since it's what you've always wanted you should go with what your heart tells you:)  Remember we only get our day once, so you should be wearing the dress you truly want to be wearing!

You look beautiful in that dress!  If you're second guessing it however, going to check out other bridal stores and trying on different dresses will ease your mind either way...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
