April 2013, Sandals Grande Riviera Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have just booked our wedding date and my FI and I's room reservations for the Grande Riviera in Ocho Rios. I would love to get any feedback, advice or information from brides that have recently been married there. I would also like to see if there are any other brides getting married close to April 12, 2013 at the same resort!

I have been given a US based wedding planner, and don't speak with her until June which i'm okay with...but would really just love some advice/pics on private receptions. We are planning on having around 25 people and want to do the 3 hour private reception with a sort of DJ so we can do some of the formalities--I've priced it out but just want to see what other people have done.

Thanks!

Katie

We've just begun planning a wedding at Grand Riviera for March 2013. Just ordered the Save the Dates from Etsy! I haven't even officially booked the room and wedding date but completing that on Monday. So excited! I'm still debating whether the extra $600 for a "twilight" wedding will be worth it. I'm hoping to avoid that payment with a 4pm ceremony. What did you do?

And you're getting married at Sandals Grande Riviera? How exciting! My FI and I arrive on the 9th and leave the 19th :) We already have nearly 60 people who have booked their rooms! I NEVER expected so many people to go! I'm wondering if we'll be eligible for any kind of discount for that many people! Any information you find out would be great to know!

I think the twilight ceremony would be nice...I decided against it and went with the 3:00 ceremony because it would give us more time prior to dark for photos, I wanted a little more daylight after the ceremony for pictures. Speaking of pictures, have you decided what you are going to do for a photographer? I'm considering bringing a photographer as a guest and getting the whole trip on camera! Anything you find out is greatly appreciated to hear about, it's tough because it seems so much is done when you get there! How many people do you think will be joining  you?

We are having our wedding here on 04/19/2013. We just booked it this week. I am so excited. We went with the 4:00 ceremony because the $600 for the twilight seemed like too much for only an hour later...As far as a photographer, I have a friend who is just starting out so we are paying for their 3 night stay in exchange for her to photograph the wedding.

CONGRATS CMS531!!!! It's such a fun/easy process! My FI leave on the 19th, you'll have a beautiful wedding i'm sure! If you find out any useful information and are inclined to share, i'd appreciate it! I have my first phone call in June :) I bought my dress this last weekend, couldn't be more excited!

If you don't mind me asking, what is your official date?  I am also planning my wedding for March of 2013.  :)  We have decided against the twilight ceremony (although I am sure it would be quite amazing) due to our budget.  We are planning to book next weekend!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
