Hi.I am planning a small intimate wedding in Jamaica and have provisionally booked 1st December2012. Im very excited and nervous at same time! We are trying to keep costs at a very minimum because we will have a reception at home in Ireland when we get back. We are hoping to go for the Free package and maube add a few things to it. Just a bit confused though with Riu website as it says if you book 5 rooms or more you are entitled to the free package. Does this mean I cannot avail of this otherwise? I may have five rooms but not sure just yet and dont want to book if I have to go to the next wedding level. Any help is very much appreciated

How long are you staying? I think my TA mentioned that we either had to stay a total of 6 or 7 nights OR had to have 5 rooms booked.

Do you have a travel agent? I can probably just shoot mine a quick email and ask her if she knows if you don't.

I am staying at Riu, but getting married off resort. Have you tried e-mailing the wedding coordinator? I would also recommend just talking to a TA who has experience with DW. I've heard good things about the TAs through this website.

        Good Luck!

I have to agree! I am booking through Teresa at Wright Travel Agency, who handles Jamaican destination weddings and she is fantastic!

            Thanks for your replies Girls!!

I will be staying for 10 nights min and think will have 4 rooms at minimum staying for a week with possibilty of more so guess I will be covered under the free wedding terms.

I have not contacted the WC yet because I was told she doesnt reply to emails until 3 months before your wedding? I have it booked through the website for 1st December 2012.

Even though she doesn't contact you until right before your wedding, you can still email her with questions. She just doesn't start the planning of your wedding til it gets closer. She is more than happy to answer any questions that come up in the meantime.

I think the free package just covers the "legal" part of it, along with the minister fees...back 2 years ago when we got married we used the free package but paid so much more...we paid ofr white chairs, additional decor, private beach party, speakers......we ended up with 2 grand worth of stuff maybe..we had about 30 people.......I think back then, the basic package was 250? I had great service-and I had booked and requested things about 9 months in advance....and it was worth it..I saw other brides upset that what they wanted their wedding day was already booked up (and it was by me! lol)..and they tried booking 6 months in advance...she wont really worry about little things, but she'll book out specific locations for you-once I had a booking conf number she was able to help me...but for actual wedding details...it really wasnt confirmed until our meeting down there..I spent way too much time worrying about the tiny things..it can all be taken care of there once you arrive..Id just suggest you research the places to be married etc..and book that....along with a time....and if you need  a photographer, book that too-that was another 1500 on top of our 2 grand....not too mention hair..lol..rememberingit all now...lol...if you have any questions at all Id be happy to answer them, and give you my email.

My TA told me we could do the free package before we even had guests book based on us staying for 7 nights.
