Hi!

I need your help. I have my wedding in a casa that i have hired in October in San Jose del cabo. Most guests are flying in from Australia so we are looking for accommodation for guests that really shows off the the mexican flair and beautiful area but is also in  a great location where they dont need a car but able to walk into town or have complimentary transport available. Does that exist??

I have never been to the area (which makes it difficult) but i dont want guests to feel like that are just staying in any resort and could be anywhere i want it to feel a little more special and less touristy. please help me! If nothing like that exists in San jose, does it exist in Cabo? any reccommendations??

thankyou!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding here in Cabo. Answers to a few questions will focus the options:

1.) Preferring something close to your wedding location in San Jose?

2.) How many guests will need accommodation?

3.) 3 star or 5 star?

4.) Considering all-inclusive?

5.) Considering villa rentals?

6.) What is the name of the Villa/Casa you have chosen of your wedding?

I look forward to your answers.

San Jose del Cabo is less touristy than Cabo San Lucas so I think you've made a great choice. It's where we had our wedding last November. As far as transportation, it is advisable to make all your reservations to and from the airport ahead of time (I think if you google cabo shuttle, you'll get a website through which you can arrange it); if you're not sure, let me know and I can dig up the website that I recommended to some of my guests. There are some condos in the area that you can also rent through VRBO.com so that your guests don't have to feel like they're in a hotel all the time but more in a home. You'll have to make sure though that the condos are within walking distance of the San Jose del Cabo's historic district.

There's also the Tropicana Inn which is really beautiful and quiet. It's very Mexican and not like a regular hotel or resort. One of my guests stayed there and so we went with him and his wife to check out the place; I loved it. If you search for it on hotels.com or any of the travel sites, you will see a lot of pictures. It also is right in the historic district so you can walk to restaurants, shops, etc. There's also a public bus that goes to Cabo San Lucas so your guests can hop on it and go to the touristy part of Cabo. You can also ask the front desk to arrange for cabs. Sometimes you'll see cabs out front but it's usually best to get the front desk to arrange for it; or if you do catch a cab out front, make sure you get them to tell you how much it is before you get in the car.

There is also the Hotel Cielito Lindo which had great reviews, is cheap, and quite authentically Mexican. However, I'm not sure how many of your guests like that kind of accommodation. We had thought about staying here after our wedding but decided to splurge a little more and went somewhere about a 15-minute drive away that was absolutely beautiful but not a resort.

But these are the two out-of-the-ordinary hotels that I know of. Otherwise, all my guests stayed in either condos or all-inclusive resorts in the area. I gave all my guests a choice so some people picked a resort while others picked a condo, and then one party picked the Tropicana.

Have you gotten all your vendors? Let me know if you have any questions! I'd be happy to help as much as I can!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
