El Dorado Maroma wedding

Recommended Posts

We are looking to get married in 2013-The resort looks beautiful.  Can anyone share any info on the packages they offer, the vendors, or the staff.  As you all know working from a distance adds challenges.  Any help would be great

This is the wedding site for all of the Karisma hotels (EDR, EDM and the Azul Resorts).

http://www.karismahotels.com/weddings/weddings-no-others-karisma-hotels

It has all of the info with the banquet planning kit (meals, cocktails, etc.), wedding packages, and almost everything you need.

I'm working with Lomas (the group that coordinates the weddings for Karisma) on my Nov 2012 wedding at EDR. Still 9 months out, and so far the longest I've waited for a reply to my emails is 48 hours. Most are answered within 24 hours. I'm thrilled with this considering some of the complaints I've heard about coordinators at other resorts.

They are one of the resorts that charges a hefty fee for outside vendors that aren't pre-approved ($500 per vendor). So this is something you'll want to check carefully.

I don't know specifics about this particular resort, but I'm happy to share any info about the wedding packages, etc. in general that I've learned so far.

Happy Planning!!

Hi all,

My fiance and I are actually getting married at the El Dorado Maroma (EDM) three weeks from today.  Our "wedding coordinator" from Lomas Travel has been Natalia....and she has been frustrating, to say the least.  At three weeks out she is still not very responsive to emails.  My travel agent told us that we would be transferred to the onsite coordinator 30 days before the wedding date.  However, that has still not happened, and when the travel agent asked Natalia (3 times!!) who our onsite coordinator would be, she hesitated to give her the name and still won't give her her email.  We have to finalize a couple things (like if people want steak, lobster, or surf/turf) before she will give us the coordinator's information.

I don't really undertand Natalia's role very well - you go to the Lomas travel website and put the item;s you want into a cart, much like you are shopping online at Amazon. Once you get there you have a meeting with the onsite coordinator to go over all of your choices.

We are using Sarani photo, since she is one of the approved vendors, and Karisma charges an outrageous $800 fee to use non-approved vendors. As such, we are also getting our hair/makeup done at the spa at the hotel.

We are having our rehearsal dinner and our reception at the marina next door to the EDM since we have one child (don't get me started on that...) coming to the festivities. We are doing a sunset private cruise after the ceremony, followed by a private dinner on the beach.

I will let you all know more after the wedding, so you guys can know what to expect.  Natalia aside, I am very excited about having the wedding at the EDM since it is a smaller hotel but still upscale.

Hi ladies!

I am staying at the Azul Sensatori and will be having my reception there, but my actual ceremony will be at the El Dorado Maroma chapel.  Is anyone else having their ceremony at the chapel? Or seen previous brides reviews/pictures from ceremonies there? Any information would be greatly appreciated!  I am excited to actual spend time at this resort on our honeymoon :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
