Pre-trip Packet: Passport, Packing List & Luggage Tags

Recommended Posts

We have 13 people (3 singles, 5 couples) sailing with us on the Carnival Liberty and 8 guests (4 couples) meeting us on St. Thomas for our wedding. We sail on March 31st, so Iâ€ll be dropping off and sending these pre-trip packets mid-February. Iâ€m going to hand-deliver as many of these as possible to save money on postage.

For each packet, weâ€ll be sending a passport of information, luggage tag for each guest, a packing list, and a thank you for booking business card, all packaged in a black folder. Weâ€re also going to include the wedding day timeline for island guests (since we wonâ€t see them before the wedding day) and a list of the cruise events for the sailing guests.

Luggage Tags

I got shimmer business cards from Zazzle and was very disappointed in the quality, especially for the price. If I could go back, I would have sent these back for a refund and printed on my own on shimmer paper. I mounted the cards on teal cardstock leftover from my invitations and added address labels on the back.

I got the luggage tags from a BDW bride.

Packing List

I found a packing checklist online that I loved, but it was ridiculously expensive, so I made my own and adjusted it to fit for a cruise, adding some travel/cruising tips on the back.

Passport

I used a bunch of passport templates from BDW brides to compile my info passport. I made one passport for the cruising guests and one for the island guests. The cruising passport had info about the ports of call and cruise tips. The island passport had info about St. Thomas and travel information instead.

I printed the passports on 110# cardstock, used my Fiskars paper cutter to do the straight lines, Fiskars corner punch to round the corners, and Martha Stewart scoring board to get a nice fold. I tied the passports through two holes with twine from Ace Hardware.

The Whole Package

I put everything together into a black folder from www.envelopperinc.com, tied with blue ribbon and a Countdown to Paradise monogram tag. I personalized the monograms depending on the guestâ€s destination (cruise or St. Thomas). My mom had the awesome idea to tie the luggage tags to the front instead of trying to cram them inside (theyâ€re kinda thick), and it turned out beautifully. Love my mama!

The thank you for booking business card, wedding day timeline and wedding week events postcard were all free from VistaPrint.

Everything went into white envelopes with address labels I printed at home and leftover return labels from our STDs.

I'm so sorry, I have absolutely no idea where I found it! I used Excel to make my own (pasting the final version into powerpoint), using lists I found on different cruise/travel advice websites.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
