Hi all!

I actually joined back in October, but hadn't really started planning until a few days ago.  We are getting married in July 2013 in Cancun - Resort to be decided upon this week.

I've found a ton of very useful information and ideas so far, and am looking forward to putting it all to use.

Thanks!

Congratulations Jen and welcome to the forums! Dreams Cancun is one of the more popular resorts in Cancun for weddings and is breath taking!

Here is a recent wedding I shot at Dreams Cancun: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150377196144487.369462.18683524486&type=3

Thanks everyone!  We now have the date, hotel, and TA confirmed - now it's just a matter of planning the details.  I'm so surprised that I was only able to find one review for the FA Condessa - they have such amazing reviews for the property itself on many sites.  I'm dealing with Mariana as my WC, and she has been amazing so far, with great information.

Hi Carly,

We ended up deciding on the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun.  Date has been confirmed, and we are just waiting on the contract to come through so that we can put the deposit down.  Now the real fun begins jiggy.gif

Hola nimbleknits,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!!

I would love to offer a few pointers and recommendations since you are just beginning to plan:

1. Your day will be spectacular simply because of the love you surround yourself with, regardless of the details!  Know that something in the plans may have a glitch - let's face it, what plans are ever flawless?  Just plan enough to allow yourself to be stress free for your special day, but be flexible enough to let whatever happens, happen.

2.  Don't let anyone talk you out of having your ceremony start time be anything but 1.5 hours prior to sunset. This will give you great light for your ceremony, and even better sunset light for your beach portraits! Here's a schedule we'd recommend for a July Wedding:

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Getting Ready
6:00 PM - 6:30 PM | Ceremony
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM | Cocktails + Sunset Portraits
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM | Dinner + Toasts
9:00 PM - 10:00 PM | Dancing + Reception Fun

3. Remember that this day is about you!  Don't settle for things if you're not stoked on them!  Do something fun and special for your guests too though - Cancun has a plethora of awesome fire dancers that are a great piece of entertainment for the evening and provide for awesome pictures - if that's something you're interested in.  Otherwise, throw yourself a party you'd be stoked to attend, and likely your guests will enjoy it too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
