Gift for Guests - OTHER THAN OOT bags. Ideas Please!!

Recommended Posts

Hi there

This is the first time I've posted here. Not sure if I'm posting in the right place.

My fiance and I are getting married in Jamaica in May. We want to do something for the people traveling with us. We thought about doing OOT bags, but would prefer to do something different as we've attend DW's and receive OOT bags and so have many of our DW guests.

We've thought about sending our guests a framed photo from our wedding - perhaps us with each couple - or having a gift on the table when we have dinner at the resort after the wedding.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Emma

As for you question...  I'm not a fan of the framed photo b/c it just doesn't seem practical to me.  I don't have a ton of photos around my house though, so maybe that's just me, but I wouldn't put up a pic of us from someone's wedding with the couple.  I would put it in a book or something, but I wouldn't display it around my house.

You can always do a little bottle of liquor or something unique to the area of where you are getting married.

My all time favorite favors at wedding are always when it's fancy chocolate.  Maybe you can find a local place to get a fancy dessert or something?

Hi Emma,

If you have never been to Jamaica before, they have fabulous rum - how about getting the adhesive labels printed before your wedding with your names & the date, and then purchase a bottle of the local rum for each guest when at the resort, put the wedding labels on, and then have a bottle for each guest waiting either as they check in, or at the reception dinner (if you are having one).

  • 3 weeks later...

Emma,

My FI and I are doing oot bags but we are also doing some "different things"

1) We are hand delivering these cookies ( http://luluscookies.com/order_case.htm ) to everybody at their room when they arrive

2) We are doing pashminas for all of the ladies but not in the OOT bags we are having them embroidered with each ladies name and they will be placed on the chairs at the ceremony.

3) We are also as a favor for our wedding getting little glass bottles with cork stoppers etched with the words Negril Jamaica for everybody to take some sand home with them. Those will be at our cocktail reception!!

Hope this helps!

I am thinking about doing wind chimes.

These are the ones I like: http://www.theweddingdept.com/seashell-chime-favors.htm

Or if we scale back a little, maybe ornaments for everyone, and wind chimes for our families.

I also want to do a travel mug of some sort. Thinking about getting the cheap ones from Oriental Trading Co. and creating my own insert.

Another idea that was suggested to me as a favor is spices. Again using your own custom label.

You could also do coffee from Jamaica instead of rum if you have folks who don't drink alcohol in your group.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
