Hi Jessi,

Can you please elaborate on the other places you looked at that fall into the same category as Wicky's? We're looking at Blue Venado, too, as our beach option if we decide to go in that direction for the reception; but the other option is to keep everything downtown as the ceremony will be at Chapel del Carmen. I've eaten at Wicky's and loved the food (venue is good, too), but it's expensive I think. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks.

in fact all in all they were a really great bunch of people. its going to sound stupid as my whole original plan was a beach wedding...but i started to have doubts about whether i wanted ot spend the whole night on the sand (which given i looked at mainly beach clubs pretty much ruled out most of my research). did love the deck they have at the end though, means you dont have to pay for a dance floor if you dont want to! must admit i think i preferred blue venado menu to xcaret though =S

for me, my top venues were

1) xcaret

2) blue venado

3) isla de la pasion

4) kool club

5) then places like wickys, canibal royale...and all my other options

ilooked at zenzi - didnt reply to my emails so i just turned up. the guy who spoke to us repeatedly emphasised that there was no possibility of a private event as "locals like to drink here". but kept telling us he would squeeze us in and try to find some space for us. only info he gave us via email afterwards was bar prices (so who knows about food). so the bar prices :$180 pesos/person for the house bar including smirnoff vodka, bacardi, cuervo tequila, beers and soft drinks . includes mixers and ice.$220 pesos/person per hour with better brands (no more info given) also includes mixers and ice.also you can buy bottles: wine $ 400 pesos.tequila 1000  -  1300 pesos, rum -1000 pesos   for dollars divide by approx 13. basically i found them a bit unhelpful and sounds like itd be incredibly busy there

kool i really did like - but i wanted a wedding ceremony during daylight, and it only opens for private events from 7pm (and in march sunset is around 6pm).

canibale royale - i popped in quickly just to see how the palce was. it seemd quite casual to me, but not in a sort of charming rustic way like BV. its all subjective though, what i wanted was a simple beach ceremony but with a slightly more dressed up reception. admittedly i didnt see it done up for an event

to be fair, i looked at zenzi, wickys. kool and canibale royale after id seen xcaret - and i was so in love with xcaret that anywhere else seemed not as special. so i stopped visiting beach clubs!

Jessi-- thanks so much! I appreciate the run-down. And I know what you mean about Xcaret... gorgeous! I requested information from them, so who knows where our wedding will end up now :)

Hello LCB803,

Have you considered Grand Coral Beach club for your reception? its pretty much secluded and just next door from Chapel del Carmen.  The chef is very flexible with menus and drinks.  Feel free to send me your email address and I will be happy to forward you the different types of menus he offers.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hello all,

Back from our wedding trip and just wanted to let anyone thinking of BV for thier wedding know how absolutely fabulous they were to work with and how gorgeous the venue is.

There was not one request that wasn't answered with "of course", "no problem", etc.

Our guests were blown away with the site. The ceremony was so peaceful and romantic and has views of beautiful sunsets for pictures.

The large palapa was an awesome place for a party. A built in wood dance floor, great sound, nice rustic furniture and an amazing bar area with swings all in the sand.

The staff was incredible. They were super friendly, very attentive and made sure everyone had a blast.

Food was fantastic. We had canapes for cocktail hour, specialty cocktails, and a generous buffet for dinner. Our guests raved about the food.

It was truly a dream. I wouldn't change a thing. Don't hesitate to book this for your big day!

Note that we hired a coordinator (Erica from Weddings in Playa, who is totally amazing), an outside florist who also helped decorate and a DJ who kept us dancing for 5 hours! They were all awesome and all came together to form a wedding dream team. Individual reviews to follow!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
