Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

Hi beautiful brides!  We are having a symbolic ceremony Jan 28th, 2013 at the Gazebo 11AM at MC, and a dinner reception on the La Barcaza 5:30 to 8:30.  Always feeling like there is so much more to do and decide?  Think it's naturalblink.gif

Few questions if anyone can...at 11AM is the beach super super busy?  We originally wanted to have the ceremony on the beach but I was told it is really windy in Jan and little privacy.  I can handle a few people lounging behind us of course, but not really giddy about 50 extra guests behind me.  Anyone else have a beach ceremony that early?

Also, I have read so many great things about La Barcaza cruise?  Any comments on what it was like?  Did anyone bring own decorations for the tables?  Did it cost extra?

Does anyone know if we need to buy our own decorations for the cake provided in the package?  I heard some girls did.   I assume they decorate it for you with ribbons or flowers.  I will buy my own topper of course.

So very excited, we have 22 guests...just a nice amount.  Hugs to all you beauties out there!

Hey Congratulations Beachy2013!!

I do know some of the answers to your questions, first off have you checked out the facebook page Majestic colonial Brides? It is awesome and tons of information there

I have read many times that the La Barcza boat is awazing lots of reviews about it on there too.

I have also been told many times taht the beach is blocked off for wedding so people can not come right up so no worries there that is where I am getting married so beautiful

There are alot of extra charges for things if you want alot of decorations and extras it is probably worth getting a package, alot of girls seem to bring there own sahes as the resort charges $5 each sash they also bring there own cake toppers and what ever else but some use the resort and I have been told it is around $5 for each flower

I hope that I have helped you a bit

Hey Ladies!.. What are you doing about decorations? I have read a few reviews saying the deco packages are overpriced.. But it's been a while since I looked at them.

My colors are Orange and Pink and for decor I want chair sashes and raffia fans at the ceremony site and then move the sashes to the reception dinner. I am wanting to buy these as soon as I find the ones I like the most because I also want to use them at our AHR.

What else are you ladies taking for decor?

I've been thinking about decorations too!  I did go to Michael's and in their discount section I found little starfish.  There were 3 in each box for $3 each.  I'm not sure how I'm going to use them yet ... but I'm going to work it in somehow.  I like the look of clear glass vases filled with sand and candles for centrepiece decorations, which I think would be easy to find here and bring down.  The hardest part would be finding vases that aren't too heavy to put in luggage.  I found some pictures on Pinterest of this.  I also want to do do fans!  I'm not sure whether to do raffia fans and get them from orientaltrading.com or whether to make my own out of card stock (with info about the ceremony/wedding party).  Anyone else have any good ideas or pictures of ideas?

Oh and I also would like to do those round paper lanterns at the reception!  I'm sure they charge you for those too, but I think they would be easy to find here.  Ones with lights are pretty.  I would like some kind of little white christmas light things hanging from the wood structure ceiling!

thanks L2475.  I think I will see if we can change to the beach location. Guess few people in background is okay.  Looks so pretty on the beach.  As for decorations, I am thinking Michael's would be a great place to look.  I heard no point in candles on the La Barcaza as it is windy.  So a floral centerpiece would be nice.  Have to shop around.

My personal opinion... Go with the raffia. I went to a wedding this weekend and the couple had those hand fans made of the flat wooden stick and cardstock and I was soooooo annoyed with the flapping noises of everyones fans!!   lol.. But just my opinion.  I've seen ladies type up on cardstock the ceremony/wedding party info and attach it to the fans. :o)

I love those centerpieces too!!. It would also be easy to get the sand at the resort :o)   Dollar tree has shells, I bought some a while back for a project I was working on. I need to go check out Michaels for Starfish!  I've been wanting to incorporate these!

And I'm with you on the vases.. I wanted light decor so I want have to lug a ton of things with us.. Even thought about taking my bridesmaid bouquets and putting them on the dinner table for flowers. :o)   Gonna check out dollar tree for vases.. I know they used to have some cute ones that weren't heavy.

Thanks for the tip about the fans!

I'm going to have to check out dollar tree myself.  I am also going to re-use the bouquets for table decor!  Such a smart idea.  I saw this at a wedding I went to last summer.  It was brilliant!!!

Also check ikea for vases.  I bet they have a ton! I want to start getting this stuff but it is hard to know how much of everything to buy when you don't know how many people are coming/the number of tables!

Your welcome! :o) Either way you go, I can't wait to see them :o)

I LOVE dollar tree!  I swear they have anything and everything!.. Have you noticed they also have ribbon? I bought all of my ribbon for my fans there. Orange and pink. :o

Gah, I know right!!!.. Less decor to lugg around :o) Simple and pretty is the way I plan to make it.

I totally agree!!.. I started my OOT bags months ago.. We thought about 30 would come.. but now we are having people say they are coming that we never expected. I'm to the point to where I'd rather have too much than not enough. I can always sale the left overs. :o)

For our dinner, I was thinking one big table.. but I'm not sure now. I'm hoping to get my invites out within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully people will start booking and RSVP'ing so we have a better guestimate.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
