Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

After my TA intervened, I ended up hearing back from someone (I think the manager of my original coordinator) last night.  She said that the day I wanted is popular since it's a Saturday and asked if there were any other days I could live with.  I responded with any other Saturdays in May, then any other Sundays, then any other Fridays.  I hope they will give me a variety to choose from since I am trying to be open.  Is anyone getting the reception package at the Wet Bar or Parrot Bar Terrace?  The package includes national open bar for 40 people and sound system and tables for $500 per hour.  I'm assuming the DJ is extra even though the sound system is already there?  SO, you pay the $500/hr, but then you are obligated to get the dj for an additional $600 (unless you byodj)?

Thank you ladies so much for your help!  Yall have taken me from about a 7.5 on the panic scale down to about a 5!  LOL!  :-D

I did not realize the reception packages were that price.. not bad..

We are opting for the free dinner at either the See&Sea or the Asadito Steak Restaurant.. But depending on how many people come we will look into having a reception there.. But we are still having to plan one at home since soo many people wont be able to make it to our DW. I believe the DJ is the extra fee, you can bring your own but you'll have to pay the resort $300 to use someone they don't prefer. I've read that some ladies take an iPod and hook it into their sound system.. but not sure what way is really the best way to go about this.

What all do you plan to do during your reception?

lol... I hope they come back with a day and time you will be happy with!! :o) We went with a Wednesday so we thankfully didn't have any issues.

OK, the communique is HOT with them right now!  They are offering Friday May 24th at 3pm -civil ceremony.  Still waiting to hear back on if the restaurant (I would be fine with either) and the terrace are available for then.  We want a Beach ceremony, then dinner at one of those restaurants (Asadito or Sea and See) and then the open bar reception on one of the Terraces.  I REALLY wanted Saturday May 4th, but they do not appear to be able to facilitate that.  :-(  SO, could be a year from today!  We'll see...  :-)

I don't think we are going to have the at-home reception.  I just moved to PA 2 years ago and don't have any family here, so it wouldn't help out my fam at all to have one. Matt's brother got married in Mexico and had an at-home reception later, and everyone said it turned out GREAT!!!  He and his wife grew up locally though :-)

I'm glad things are starting to roll along.  Yes, it's hard to coordinate your first choices for each event and have them work out on the same day!

I want to do a reception after our dinner at the See and Sea too.  I definitely want to be outside ... and as low cost as possible.  I'm definitely not paying for a DJ.  I'm getting guests to request songs when they RSVP and then making up my own playlist and using an ipod.  We have had numerous "dance parties" in this fashion and have always had a blast!  We can go to the disco afterwards ... they have a DJ.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but there's so much fantastic information on this site, I'm excited to read it all!  My fiance and I are planning to get married July 2013 at the Majestic Elegance.  We've traveled there twice and loved it, and for the price, I don't think you can beat it!  We'd like to get married on the beach, then I've booked La Barcaza for a sunset dinner cruise for all of our guests.  I thought I was well ahead of the curve, requesting my date and time 14 months in advance, but when I heard back from the wedding coordinator today, she told me they only have 1 time slot available, 12:00pm, on July 26th, they day we want to have our symbolic ceremony!!  I don't understand how that's possible, as rates for July 2013 just became available 3 weeks ago!  I really don't want to get married so early in the day, since La Barcaza isn't picking us up until 5:30!  Has anyone else run into this problem?  Were you able to negotiate a different time?

Aww. well I totally understand.I have a small family here in Alabama but he has a rather large family in Georgia. We are planning our AHR for GA of course since that's where I'll be moving.. I hope it turns out well and we have a lot of fun.

I like the Ipod idea too!!!  Since we're picking all the songs anyway, we could just get it super organized, and not worry about the DJ!!!  Great idea to include song requests in the RSVP too, and since the sound system comes with a microphone, we would still be able to announce the events (wedding party intro, toasts, dances, etc.)  I'm sure we have a friend or two who would be more than willing to "MC."  P.S.  We LOVE Dance Parties!!!  :-)

OH, almost forgot!  We got our confirmation certificate for May 24, 2013 at the beach at 3 pm!  I'm a little nervous that it's Memorial Day weekend, hopefully the flight prices won't be terrible, and hopefully people won't be disappointed to come to our wedding instead of being with their families.  The way that I look at it is that it is an extra day they won't have to take off from work!  :-)

Today is our "Pre-Versary!!!"  LOL!

I ended up totally freaking out last night about the date being on the same weekend as Memorial Day, so I just got it changed.  I can now say with confidence that the ceremony will be at 5:00 pm on May 13, 2013!  I'm so excited!  Monday actually ends up to be a great day to have it because those only staying for 3 nights could fly in Saturday and leave Tuesday.  Matt and I can arrive on Friday, get everything situated, and then get Married on Monday, and then chill for the rest of the week until we leave on Saturday or Sunday.  :-)  All of our guests will have flexibility for their travel times too.  I told them that I would be open to either ceremony type, so I'm currently down for a "symbolic," but the WC is going to see if she can get the Judge to schedule me in.  Either way, the stress is off!!!  Time to start making Save-the-Dates!!!!  :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
