Hang in there!  When my fiance and I announced to his family that we would be having our wedding in the Caribbean, his parents showed a great deal of disappointment.  They made comments like, "do you think anyone will actually go?" and "it's just SOOO far!" and "that seems like a lot to ask of your guests."  It didn't feel very good to hear these things since I was so excited.  I may have even shed a tear or two.  BUT, since the plan has been in motion for about 3-4 months now, they are really starting to come around and become part of the excitement!  His mom called me the other day to tell me that her dental hygienist's daughter got married at ME, and it was the most beautiful resort she's ever seen and that the wedding was amazing and everyone there had the best time ever!  Thank goodness!!!  :-)  Parents can be traditional and sometimes need a little time to marinate on an idea!

I emailed my WC to see if we could push our ceremony up to 5:00, because our photographer stated 6:00 is getting to be too late, and the WC replied with "There our no earlier time slots on that day"   It's a WEDNESDAY!.. How in the heck is there nothing available? I also inquired as to how many weddings they do in one day. Can anyone else comment as to how many they have in one day?.. I'm really annoyed with them right now. :o(

We are getting married at 5 and are going to do our pics beforehand.  I know there is a lot of romance associated with seeing each other for the first time at the aisle, but there are alternatives to ensure that you still get that special moment.  My FI and I are going to get together before we see everyone else for a "First Look."  It will be a private moment where we can speak our feelings, exchange our gifts, and have our special moment in private.  We may even have our photographer there to capture the moment.  After that, we can take all of our pics and start off the events at 5 pm and move smoothly from one event to the next without the interruption of photos.  Just an option :-)

Google "First look beach weddings," here are some of my faves!:

She just responded. She stated there was someone with a wedding just before us!! And that they do 4 to 5 weddings a day!! YIKES!!!! That was the main reason we choose a Wednesday over a Saturday. :o(   We are in the process of booking Jamie Dimitry.  :o)

and habe some pics taken before the ceremony? And i was told they have up to 5-6lee's weddings a day but only have one at a time. I believe they have set times to pick from during the day starting at 11the so first come basis. If ur going to be down there at a busy time of the year any day is busy...but regardless the pictures should be beautiful!

I apologize...after i posted that i realized that may be referring to Dreams Palm Beach...we were looking at both resorts and i cant remember which WC said that.

We are going to do a first look before the ceremony so hopefully we'll get lots of great shots then. Jamie also mentioned we could do family pics before the wedding.. Hoping it all goes well. I've requested the WC let me know if 5:00 becomes available. I just want to make sure we have planty of time for pictures without missing our dinner and guests.

That's great that they came around!  I had the exact same problem before, and it made me soo mad and sad at the same time. But everyone is also starting to come around to the idea and actually be happy for us and a tropical location. :o)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the first looks!!!.. I'll check these out, thanks for sharing!.. I've already told Jamie we wanted a first look session. :o) I too want to be able for us to have that moment together and then get ourselves together before walking down the aisle.. Knowing me I will need a make-up check between the 1st look and walking down the aisle. :o)

I know, so annoying right?  I had problem too because I wanted a late afternoon wedding and I was completely flexible on what day it would be as long as it was during our stay May 5th -12th.  The only time I could get was 1:00pm.  I've been told there are 3 time slots a day at each side of the resort, ME and MC (10, 1, and 5pm).  I also asked to be put on a "wait list" for a 5pm time, but she said they don't usually get cancellations! Boo-urns!

I honestly think they make up 80% of what they say. If they have 3 slots, (10, 1 and 5) then how in the heck would me moving my 6:00 to 5:00 cause a conflict. I don't like that anyone can book a time without a deposit. Because for all they someone holds a time and then forgets to release it. I voiced this to our WC and let her know we would really like 5:00 or 5:30 if she could please keep us updated. Of course she hasn't responded.  Are you set for a certain day or still waiting? I see your profile has no date. With you having a 7 day window I don't see how all slots could be booked.

I've seen that a few ladies are getting married at Jellyfish. I'll probably just stick with our 6:00 slot if we have to, but does anyone have a price list and pictures for Jellyfish? :o)

Ladies, have yall been told anything about tourist cards? My TA just mentioned to me that tourist cards are required to purchase while in Punta Cana and are $10. This is something totally new to me.

My TA told me about these as well. Unfortuantely they can't be avoid everyone has to get one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
