Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm new to the site and my fiance and I were trying to plan a destination wedding. We're leaning towards Punta Cana and would prefer to get married after the new year (anywhere from February-April 2013). I've read great things about both Majestic resorts, although we would prefer Colonial as we could potentially have 1 kid traveling along. Any advice on using a travel agent? How simple was having a wedding there? We would like to keep it simple between 20-30 guests max. The gazebo ceremony looks great. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone had any advice about the Majestic Colonial. My fiance and I have narrowed down our destination wedding to Punta Cana more than likely and I've read great reviews about both Majestic hotels. We would more than likely have at least one kid come along so Colonial would be the choice. Looking at around 20-30 guests max for a simple wedding. The gazebo ceremony looked great to me. Any advice on the best way to find group rates (i.e. travel agents)? Also, any comments on the hotel food, beach, etc.? I've read a lot of reviews but don't really know where to start. We would like to get married in February 2013, although we're flexible to run into March or April 2013. Dates are flexible. Thanks all for any help or advice!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and my fiancé and I were looking into doing a destination wedding in Punta Cana. Both Majestic resorts look great, but it would probably be the Colonial as we would probably have at least 1 kid come along. Any advice on travel agents, best ways to get good rates, etc.? How is the beach, food, and experience? We would probably have 20-30 guests and keep it simple. Gazebo ceremony looks great. Any stories or advice would be much appreciated. Hoping to get married if possible in February 2013, but March and April work as well. Thanks and I'll keep reading everyone's posts!

Welcome to the site!! You will love it here! :o) All the brides are very helpfull and super friendly.

Don't rule out the Majestic Elegance because of children... I too have children attending my wedding (about 6 or more). Both accept adults and children, but the elegance offers an adults only section for those who wish to have a room and pool and other locations for adults only. It is called the Elegance Club. Some of my guests are booking those rooms, but most will stay in the regular Jr. Suite and Swim Ups due to having children traveling with them.

My travel agent is now very experienced with Punta Cana. Her name is Babs aka Barbara Vong from Wright Travel Agency (BDW's preffered travel agency) We expect about 30 or so come to our wedding as well. We are opting for the free wedding dinner at the Asadito Steakhouse, you also have the free option of the See and Sea. Or a private buffet for a per person rate. I forgot the rate, but another lady should be able to help you. Oh sorry.. those choices for free dinners are at ME, but I know MC also has free dinner options.

You probably want to call a TA ASAP or the resort to see what days they have available for ceremonies.MC and ME seem to be very popular for weddings.  Also, check out the resort reviews for MC and ME at the "Resort Reviews" tab above.

I believe it is 325, 350 or 375. We are are going to use Michael Steingard or Jamie Dimitry. They are not the preferred Photogs for either resort, but we have personally talked to both and both said they don't have to pay fee's since they visit so often. They also stay at the resort for your wedding, so maybe this is a reason no fee has to be paid.

I would definitely go with the Elegance.  My friend just got back from the Colonial and she said the Elegance is more upscale - 5 star versus 4 star.

Definitely get in touch with the wedding coordinator at the hotel to see what days are available.  I was shocked to find out there was only one time slot available for the first week of May and I booked two months ago!  Good luck :)  This a great site for everything to do with planning a destination wedding!

We are having the ceremony and reception off resort, so it would just be for pictures of us getting ready in the room. I really don't want to pay over $300 for just an hour of pics on the resort.  I wonder how I could get around this...

Oh Sorry, I didn't notice you were having the wedding/reception at Jellyfish.. I should have read your profile.

Hmm... Where does your photographer plan to stay? Or is it a local photog?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
