Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! I've been stalking these boards for weeks now but can FINALLY add to the discussions- we've officially booked our date at ME for June 19, 2013. I couldn't be more excited! We're doing a 4 p.m. symbolic ceremony on the beach. For those of you who were married at ME or have similar future plans- what did you/are you going to do for a reception? We should have somewhere between 40-60 guests. I'm thinking about doing the free dinner, and then just hanging out at a bar or something until the disco opens, but don't know if there would be enough room to accommodate all of our guests! I really just don't want to pay the extra money for a private reception...

Thoughts?!

Im new to this forum but since we have our date figured I could finally get involved! We are booked at the colonial for april 23, 2013. We were thinking of doing the same thing, free dinner then heading to the disco later. We are expecting 20 guests approximately. Any feedback from anyone whos done something similar would be much appreciated.  Really dont wanna pay for the private dinner/reception :S

Hi all..  We are getting married at the MC Feb 20-27.  We found leaving mid week was better prices and our guests didnt seem to care.

Im having some issues with the wedding being at 11am..  UGH!.  I would really prefer it to be in the later afternoon but apparently there are no other days or times for our week.  It really books up fast.

Im still waiting on prices from my TA but they are looking to be about $1500.00 from Toronto for that week.

Does anyone know what the boat costs?

May I please ask how much the reception at the wet bar is and what yall plan to do. We are thinking of doing this option as well. May 29th, 2013

I know your frustration!!!  When I booked our wedding they could only offer me one time as well .... 1:00.  I really want 4:00pm or later.  By chance are you having a symbolic wedding?  I'm hoping I can somehow get it changed.  Even if that means changing the date of the wedding by a day or two.

Hi Britt,

I'm doing a reception at the Parrot's Bar ... after our free dinner at the Sea and See.  I plan to do Cake, Speeches, Cocktails and Dancing during that time 8:30-11:00.  So that's $300 + $250 + 16% gratuity, and $15/person + 26% gratuity for bar/hour.  I haven't inquired yet, but there is a chance you can get wine, beer, and juice/pop for free.  If that is the case ... I won't bother with the bar upgrade.

Hey everyone!

I am JUST starting to look now at destinations and I am seriously considering this resort.  I'm looking at Nov 30, 2013.  They said they have a 5pm symbolic ceremony available.

I wanted to know what everyone thought about the fact that I was going to possibly have my wedding Thanksgiving weekend (possibly, because I haven't actually booked anything yet).  It will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  A few people said that it's a wonderful idea because they're already off from work and get to go away from the cold weather (we're NYers) for a long weekend.  Other people said that Thanksgiving is a "family holiday" and that it would be unfair to ask people to go away that week.  I did suggest that people can come the Wed night before, I would have a welcome dinner on Thanksgiving for those who could make it and for those who cannot, they could come on Fri or Sat for just the ceremony on Sat.  There would also be a brunch on Sun morning for those who missed the welcome dinner.  Technically, it's still the off season so the flights and hotels are cheaper than if I were to do it in Dec or in Jan/Feb 2014, so I thought I was being considerate picking a day that most people would not have to request time off from work and when the prices are cheaper.

What is everyone's opinion of this?

Also, are there any other Nov 2013 brides out there??

-S

We are doing a private party at the Wet bar so that includes seating for up to 40 guest with white linens and chair covers as well as sound system equipment and national drinks for $500 dollar an hour was the lastest pricing info that I have.  I am going to do some simple centerpiece with candles and maybe a few others things, I'm not sure what yet.  Also we are just going to bring an Ipod or mixed c.d depending on the equipment and just have it shuffle through the songs.  Hope this helps I have additional pricing info. attached.

Thanks for sharing!!.. Def let me know about the wine and beer if you find out. :o)  Our families are big wine drinkers rather than mixed drinks kind of people so that would be perfect!!..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
