Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself since I've been lurking for what seems like a lifetime...

My name is Kelly and my husband and I are renewing our vows on September 6th, 2013...it will be our 10 year wedding anniversary.  We are interested in having a symbolic ceremony on the beach and I'm pretty sure we are booking ME.  I sent an email request to the email address on their website but still have not heard back from them :(  I know my date is far in advance but after reading all of the recent post about other brides having a hard time getting the times and locations they wanted I figured it was best not to wait!!!!

I'm still up in the air about having the reception off the resort at either Jellyfish or the Kukua...both places are really nice, just not sure we wanna spend a ton of extra money when we are already spending a small fortune just to travel with our 4 children.  So many decisions to make and I've already done all of this once hehehehe

I definitely want to get the date booked so I can send out the STD's so my guest have plenty of time to save $$$

I just talked a bride that was married at the Majestic Colonial a few weeks ago and she said she had a great experience. They had nothing but good things to say about this resort. They were married at 3pm on the beach then did their supper at the Sea and See Restaurant (I think thats what its called).  They had their pictures done by Tropical Pictures and I seen them and look awesome. They bride gave me a few peices of advice. She said upgrade to first class, we are flying from Canada, she said it was well worth the extra $300 roundtrip, she also said bring lots of sunscreen since they charge a arm and a leg down there, and she said that the dinner decorations were not nessecary as you can dress the table up with the flower arrangment from the ceremony plus any other bouquets. This bride also said that if you are going with tropical pictures she suggested picking the package that was the cheapesst becauase in the end they give the option for a extra $500 you can have ALL the images on a edited disc.

I am getting married at the MC Feb 12,2013. We are doing the ceremony at the gazebo at 1pm, then La Baracaza boat for drinks and appys from 330-530, then supper at the sea and see restaurant. After dinner we havent decided yet we may just lounge around the outdoor bars since my guests are low key and will be happy with just socializing with us.

Happy to announce: my fiance and I just got a date for the ME!
We will be getting married there on March 28th 2013 and we are just starting to organize everything!

But I have a question for the girls with more experience: how did you do to make sure the hotel would have enough space for you and your guests? Did you contacted a travel agent? Did you spoke with your WC and she arranged that? Around how much did your guests paid for each night at the hotel?

Congratulations and welcome to the group.

I booked through my travel agent and she has reserved 50 seats on our flight for 90 days.  So if my guests book within this time frame they get the group rate, which has been quoted at $1380/per person - that is direct from Toronto.  We also get a one time price adjustment should the price go down.  Otherwise they can book on their own, anytime they want, but there is no guarantee that space will be available if they choose to wait.

I would talk with your FI and decide what location you want your ceremony and the type of reception/dinner you want, because those locations need to be booked as well :)  You might have already done this though.  Just wanted to throw it out there!

Thanks for the advices!

For the reception, yes, we already have everything half set. We where waiting to see if the place we wanted would also be available at the same day as the ceremony, so with confirmed both together! I think we also would have to look for a travel agent (does anyone have good recommendation?). This price that you got for U$1380 was for how many days at the resort? Or just for the flight?

That price includes flight and accommodations for 7 days.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
