I booked my group booking with a TA who definatly did not know exactly what was going on with the prices but we worked it out and got a hold on the rooms for one year by paying 25 dollars per room deposit. I then booked my wedding with carnival directly because i am annoying and want to ask many questions!

What travel agency did you use?

I booked everything directly through Carnival.  They set me up with a contact person who handels any questions I have regarding the cruise, he 's also the contact person for anyone attending.  Then I have Alison, the Wedding Specialist, whom I love, she returns all my calls, e-mails,etc. She's even sent me pictures of the cake, rooms, etc.  Then there's the Wedding Experience, I'm dealing with Sherry there and so far so good, they've answered all my questions and then some.  I have more help dealing with Carnival directly than most people did going through a TA. (& no middle man fees)

I initially called Carnival with questions about the wedding and they set me up with an in-house agent (Shawn) who immediately made me feel comfortable and walked me through the entire process.  Shawn handled the booking process, set up a group number for me to give all my guests and he keeps track of everything, kinda nice, I don't want to have to call people and remind them about deposits. Initial deposit was $150pp and they have til October to have balance paid in full. I gave everyone the info they needed and his direct # for questions and he e-mails me each time someone books, makes sure all the rooms are in the same location and and same dining time.  After dealing with Shawn, he got me to Alison, who handled the Wedding booking and I love her, she e-mailed me everything I needed right away, color schemes, pictures of the cakes etc. (she even added an extra table, for our sand ceremony at no cost!).  In addition to Alison I also have Gina from the Wedding Experience who handles all the little details like my bouquet, food, music etc.  I feel like I have a Wedding Team in my corner and I have 3 resources to go to instead of one! I'm glad I called carnival before going through a travel agent, kinda cuts out the middle man and no hidden fees!

@ DramaticAnnie! I noticed you did a wedding cruise and a "honeymoon" cruise.... is there a special discount if you so choose to do a BTB cruise?? I am to begin my Wedding Cruise June 22, 2013 on the Carnival Liberty and already have a confirmed guest list of 45 people and climbing....

Love this thread...answers so many questions that I had...

We are going to go with the plan of putting the deposit down on the room we need and sending out the information to the guests and linking them after they book. We are only realistically expecting 20-25 people max so  it wont be that hard to do but I don't want to be chasing people down....also I love my Carnival PVP who I have used for all of my past cruises so I am just going to give everyone her info and let them book and then we can link.

Good luck everyone on the planning and the wedding!

Hi everyone! Glad to find a thread with some recent and upcoming cruise brides! I am hoping to possibly have a summer 2013 cruise wedding but i have sooo many questions! I see it's been a little while since anyone has posted here but hopefully some of you can come back to answer some of the questions I have. Can some of you share how you have planned your wedding events for the day? Anyone getting married on island with a reception on the ship? That's what I'm hoping for!!!

Hi emilyj,

If I can help please let me know. It will take my mind off of all of the things that I have to do....

My actual wedding will take place when we dock at a local resort. Hopefully it works out. Another bride on here did something similar.

My worst fear is that there is a storm and we won't make to Jamaica (crossing my fingers).

The wedding coordinator is from the resort and she will be taking care of the transportation and our legal papers. We are doing a mini-reception at the resort before returning to the ship(my FI's idea). We also have permission to use there facilities until we leave for the day. The ship leaves at 5pm and the ceremony should take place around 10:30am.

Thank you for your response!! Glad to see there is someone else getting married in Jamaica! This is the same destination I was hoping for. Do you know the name of the resort you will be getting married at? I have found out the ship offers a 2 hour reception so we may do that instead of having it at the resort.

We chose Shaw Park because I was told by Carnival that they use that resort. We didn't do the wedding through the ship. We found it more costly. I booked directly through the resort. I didn't like the fact that they wanted all of there money upfront. We had payments with the resort. Paying for everything ourselves has made things a little less ideal but hopefully it will all work out.

Hi Emily Did you decide what to do for your wedding yet? I got married in Rose Hall Jamaica and it was amazing! We all cruised on the Liberty of The Seas RC and had the cocktail reception/dinner onboard. Let me know if you need any ideas/help! I had a wonderful experience and really learned alot! Will be happy to share any info. 400 400

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
