Newbie, Moon Palace 2013

Recommended Posts

I just received a quote from Marvin and his prices are SO affordable!!!!!!!! Did Moon Palace ever question the flowers? I am a little nervous with using him because I don't want to get hit with the vendor fee after the fact. How did you return the vases?

Hi Shan, Haha. I am all too familiar with the David's colors. Begonia is a hot pink/fushia color. It will look nice with the ocean in the background (or so I hope). haha. My sisters are impossible to please so I knew if I had them wear a color they hated that I would never hear the end of it. :) I'm going to email Marvin today for some prices. Did you give him a price range you'd like to stick too or did he just throw affordable #'s your way? We need centerpieces too and will also have 5 tables of guests plus one sweetheart table for Dean and I. We have 82 nights booked for our guests so will luckily get the unlimited private events. We're going to have a welcome dinner and then the cocktail hour/reception. Trying to decide now if we want the reception extended to 3 hours. I think if we have a dj then we may as well do a 3 hour reception. If we were to do the ipod then 2 hours might be enough. JSAV charges $395 for the 2 full hours of ipod music, 1 speaker system, wireless microphone. Thanks so much for your help! Colleen

Ashley-

Nope - just tell them thatat you have the flowers taken care of if they ask and leave it at that.  He will drop them off in the lobby and you will avoid the vendor fee.  I never returned the vases...didn't know I was supposed to hahhah.

Collen-

That will look pretty- anything bright looks great next to the water!

I told him i wanted bright tropical looking bouquets with orange yellow and pops of blue.  I knew what he was charging other girls so as long as my prices were the same I cound;nt complain..if he would have given me a higher cost bouquet I would have told him I needed something cheaper!

check out my planning thread- do what I did- I bought blumeboxes as vases and the girls bouquets were my centerpieces - viola- 2 for one! :)

Def contact PSAV- I was charged $210 for 1 speaker, ipod hookup, mic and 3 hours of use!!

Im going with Marvin for bouquets and centerpieces. His prices seem great to me! Because I am choosing to have tall centerpieces with tall glass vases Marvin did ask that I get permission from the resort to allow one of their guys to deliver the flowers and vases safely and pick up the vases later. They are only charging me the day pass for one person for this so I thought that was fair and still way cheaper than resort flowers! And no worries or coordinating guests to pick them up which will be nice!

Looking for a little help picking a location for a private event. We are having our reception @ Tucan Terrace on 11/22/13. In our group I have 34 adults, 3 teenagers, 1 toddler and 3 babies < 1 yrs old. I think having the welcome dinner on one of the other suggested terraces will be too much for these children to be out in the sun two days in a row. I was hoping we could do it in one of the restaurants but we have too many people. :( Does anyone know of any covered terraces or somewhere else that might work for us? I know there is a terrace outside of Arrecifies restaurant so I have asked for that but the coordinator said due to the construction that area might be changed around a bit. Can anyone who has been there recently help? :)

What time are you having your event?  Keep in mind it gets dark starting around 5pm in November.  So having it on an open terrace should be fine if you start your event at 6pm.  All terraces at Moon are open and i I don't think any of them are covered.

Hello! Just noticed you are from Watertown, MA! I work in Cambridge/Watertown.. was actually just on Arsenal Street this morning! Small world!

We had our welcome dinner at Arrecifes Restaurant which is right off of the Nizuc lobby. Its a Brazilian steakhouse and the food is AMAZING. They set us up outside on the patio and we had plenty of room! We had 36 people (all adults) and we definitely could have fit more! You should think about looking into this! Here are some pics to show how it was set up. The first shows basically how the tables were set up outside in our own private area. And the second shows how it overlooks the pool area of Nizuc. Sorry I don't have better pictures!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
