Newbie, Moon Palace 2013

Thank you for your response. I feel more at ease. I'm just nervous about it because like you said ive been picturing our wedding outdoors since the beginning. I know this sounds stupid but I never thought about rain til recently. If anything I daydreamed that it would be super hot and me all sweaty. But what I worry is that we paid for carriage and a little over $1000 for fireworks to go off at our first dance :( but I don't want to be a Debbie downer, so I will think happy thoughts and not stress. Any advice To give since you were just there? Oh who was your onsite coordinator?

Hello! Try not to stress about the weather!!! I checked the weather a million times before we left and it said it was going to pour on my wedding day but it didn't!! We had gorgeous weather all the way up until our wedding day. It did rain ALOT the days after our wedding but I believe that is because there was a hurricane that was coming through. I know you probably don't want to hear this because im sure the reason you are having a destination wedding is to get married outside!... but I did see a BUNCH of weddings the days that it rained and everything still looked amazing!!! Your wedding coordinator will just move your wedding inside and you will still have the best night of your life!!!

Yes, think happy thoughts!! You are going to have an amazing wedding and vacation!!! Hmm.. the only thing I would change about my wedding is my HAIR! haha I did one of those side ponys for the ceremony and the humidity killed my curls! Luckily my friend is a hair dresser so she was able to throw it all up for me quickly before our entrance into the reception! So I would recommend wearing it all up!!

Not sure what section you are staying in but we were in the Sunrise and it was amazing! The disco is SO MUCH FUN! We went there after the welcome dinner and again after the wedding! Definitely try the Asian cuisine in the Sunrise section (near the lobby).. this was by far my favorite restaurant! (great sushi!!) All of the food was actually really good though so try and eat at as many places as you can! I honestly have ZERO complaints about the food there and I am a pretty picky eater!!

I had Zaray and I can not say enough good things about her!!! Who do you have??? Where are you having your ceremony and reception??? I want to go back!!

We have Valeria. I'm sure she's great but honestly today is the first time I frie communicating with her and she responded quickly but really didn't answer my question lol. We are staying in sunrise section as far as I know. I'm pretty happy with that. Good tip on hair because I was thinking something along those lines to the side and low but I will search for new hair ideas. Did y'all do any excursions? If so any recommendations? We are set to have ceremony in bugambilias gazebo and I asked for cocktail hr and reception to both be at lame terrace as one past bride suggested and I really liked the idea and her set up. However Edith the coordinator before Valeria tried talking us out of it- not sure why. Did you take decorations of your own? If so was it a hassle? Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just so curious since you were just there!!!

Don't be sorry!! I could talk about my wedding for hours!!! hahaha The only excursion thing I did was swimming with the dolphins and we LOVED it! (Can not recommend this enough! And its right at the resort!) We had planned to do more excursions when we switched to the Sun Palace for our honeymoon but unfortunately it rained the whole time sad.gif So I felt like we really wasted a lot of credits! My husband got a massage at the golf course spa and he really enjoyed it! He also LOVED the golf course if you have any golfers coming! Its very expensive but credits cover everything except for club rentals! (which I think were around 50-60 bucks)

That's the gazebo we had our ceremony as well and we also did the horse and carriage and let me tell you... EVERYONE cried when they saw my dad and I come around in it! (even the wedding coordinator!!) Best purchase ever! I have also heard great things about the Lake Terrace! Unfortunately my dad is handicap so I kept everything really close and we did our cocktail and reception at the Bugambillias garden and terrace!

The only things I brought down with my were all the stuff for the welcome bags, maracas as our favors, card box, seating chart, guest book, and a bunch of sea shells that I bought in a set to put on the welcome table. All of this fit into our carryon luggage that we brought on the plane with us! The only other decorations we had were the centerpieces and hanging lanterns which we ordered through Zuniga.

The only pain in the butt was my wedding dress! I am only 4'10 so it was impossible for me to carry this through an airport! haha So my hubby carried it the whole way! Unfortunately we flew JetBlue and they don't have closets so we had to stuff it in the overhead bins!!

Hi ladies, this is probably random information I found but hopefully you will find it useful or just entertaining. While I'm not happy with the predicted forecast for our stay at moon palace next week (through the United States weather system); I decided to look at a European weather website for next weeks weather...... I hear their weather system is more accurate than ours (they have predicted tornadoes and hurricanes that our weather forecasting system never picked up) anyhow the one I came across has webcams set up alllll over the world and you can see live video feed of the day. There are 2 set up in cancun and both are at palace resorts- one at beach palace and the other at playacar palace. I've been staring at the beach palace one alllllll day. The water looks beautiful! It made me even more excited. Anyhooo hope this helps in someway, if nothing more stare at the live feed and day dream away!!!! http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/webcamsdemexico/15/show.html

Hi ladies!! I'm here and it's great. Even the rain doesn't ruin the fun. I just had my appointment with Valeria our onsite coordinator and she is very nice and helpful. We just walked by bugambilias and it made it much more exciting to know in a few days I'll be there to officially walk down an aisle. I will try to post pictures a little later today.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
