Hello,

I booked directly with Moon Palace because they offered me a better deal than my TA but just compare the prices and determine which is best for you. The only thing is whichever you chose all your guest have to book the same. Once I paid my deposit I got a website created where guest can book their room.

I got the complimentry package because I wanted to select my own options but all wedding packages include a dinner reservation up to 30 guest at a restrurant for 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can use it for your wedding dinner reception, welcome dinner, farewell dinner or brunch or rehearsal dinner. I am getting a private function which is $50 per person and I have 30 room nights booked. So, my wedding coordinator quoted me 50x26=1300 plus one extra hour for free per group benefits and one I had to pay $180 total $1480.

Hope that helps!

You can book directly with Moon Palace or go through a travel agent. I went directly with Moon Palace since they offered me a better deal than my travel agent. Once you pay the deposit they will provide you a web link for your guest to book and they have to book via the link or call Moon Palace directly in order for it to count towards your group credits.

The wedding packages offer a dinner reservation up to 30 people at one of the restaurants. You can use it for the wedding reception, welcome dinner, farewell brunch or farewell dinner. I got the complimentry wedding package and adding my options. I am doing a farewell dinner and getting a private function for the reception. The private function is $50 per person. I have 26 guest so I was quoted (50x26) $1300 and got an extra hour free (per group benefits) and paid for one extra hour ($180).

Hope that helps!

Hello ladies I am looking to book my wedding at moon palace. I would be looking to book either the exotic peacock package or the pure package. I notice that this is for 30 guests only. Can anyone tell me the price per person if there are more than 30 guests? I will be travelling from Scotland and booking my hotel through a travel agents therefore a group contract will be honoured. However i will be booking my wedding direct with Moon palace (because travel agent will not honour $1500 to be taken off the wedding package!) As there will be more than 75 room nights booked we would be honoured 7 complimentary nights, unlimited private functions and room upgrade for bride and groom. Can anyone confirm when holding civil ceremony and using either exotic package or pure package is there a charge for more than 30 guests? If so, what is the charge per person? Can anyone confirm if when holding a cocktail hour, food AND a bar will be provided for the guests? Would this be free of charge because of the unlimited private functions? How many hours does this last with unlimited private functions? Also to have dinner in a restaurant would this be the where the themed reception decor tables would be used? What are the dinner options when using unlimited private functions for your wedding meal? Is this a sit down plated meal or is this a buffet? Would there be an extra charge per person for sit down meal or buffet meal if there are over 30 guests? Or would there be no extra charge due to use of unlimited private function? Are all drinks free of charge for guests with the use of their all inclusive bands? Would this be in a private area and be free of charge because of the unlimited private functions? If we wanted, could be have an outside location, which would also be free of charge because unlimited private functions? How many hours does this last with unlimited private functions? To hold a reception somewhere private or semi private to play our own music and dance and also for guests to a use a bar free of charge with their all inclusive bands. Would this be free of charge because of the unlimited private functions? Would this be where the reception decor tables would be used? If there are more than 30 guests would there be an extra charge per person? Or would this be free for over 30 guests due to the use of unlimited private functions? How many hours does this last with unlimited private functions? Sorry to write a novel ladies!! I have looked back over through the pages of this forum. I think what I'm asking is correct?! However if anyone could help me that would be great!! Thanks Nicole. Sent from my iPhone

Hi Ladies,

Not really sure if I should admit to this, but I'm the groom doing some research for our upcoming MP resort wedding. We are scheduled for a May 26, 2013 "symbolic" ceremony as she heard that you need to do a blood test in Mexico prior to your legal marriage. Something about determining if we are related??? Either way, we aren't, but neither of us want to be pricked by a Mexican whether in our veins or other, so we're getting legally married prior to being at the resort. I'm sure it's safe, but I'd rather not run the risk of leaving Mexico with anything other than my luggage and wife.

For the MP 2012 brides/grooms (there's gotta be at least one of you on here) we want to know the following:

- is the beach really that bad? Having an ocean that you can't even enter would really put a downer on the vacation, especially for families coming with children.

-Can anyone confirm the Mexican gov't charges tax on the $1500 credit if used toward any wedding packages?

I believe our wedding planner is Angelica Martinez. We are booking with a travel agent for the group rate and flight, all other correspondence has been with MP (Angelica) directly and she's prompt and courteous.

I hope the event is everything she wants.

Appreciation goes to those who have already posted valuable information in this thread. We are considering our floral and photography vendor options.

Hi Nicole

Have you tried to talk to wedding sales? I found that when I asked my questions and listed them out in numbers they would answer each question you have. I can try and answer your questions as best as I can as I had pretty much the same questions that you did.

If you have 75 room nights booked, you have unlimited private functions (for 2 or 3 hours (information seems to be inconsistent). I don't know how much more each hour will cost), a free cocktail hour and room upgrade and so on.

If you decide to have your reception in one of the restaurants, I believe they block off a part of the restauarant for your party but do not reserve the entire restaurant for you. (This MIGHT not be correct as I had enquired at other resorts and may be mixing up my information). You also have other areas that you may have your reception. For instance on the beach, terrace or I think now there is a rooftop available? I believe the beach and rooftop are extra charge.

For the wedding packages, this includes the decorations and everything listed in their package. You will just need to pay for extra chairs. I was told it is $6 per chair. If you decide to purchase the package tables available, you will be paying $300 per table. 2 tables are included if you go with the pure package. each table seats 8 people, so you can plan out how many tables you'll need based on the number of guests. (40 people = 5 tables at $300 each). If you choose not to go with the package tables, you will receive round tables with white linen, white napkins and white chairs. (You can add decorations and such at extra costs)

If you have unlimited private functions, I was told that 3 hours of alcohol were included. It will be an extra $80/hour per table.

Food options are buffet or plated, your wedding coordinator should be able to provide you the menus for these. If you are outdoor, buffet option applies but if you want a plated option, it is $30/person. Then there are upgrade options available. For instance if you want to add lobster or filet mignon, there will be an extra charge. And upgraded cocktail hors d'oeuvres available at extra charge as well. If you deicde to go with plated, all the plated food will be the same for every guest.

For your ceremony, you have the option of the beach or gazebo? I'm not too sure of this because I knew i wanted my ceremony to be on the beach, so I didn't inquire about other options.

This is what I got so far from speaking with wedding sales, who knows how it'll be when the wedding actually happens. Just keep in mind there will ALWAYS be hidden costs/fees that you will not anticipate. Hope this helped! Goodluck planning :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
