Newbie, Moon Palace 2013

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Congratulations to all 2013 brides!! We are planning on getting married in August next year, unfortunately we have not been able to decide between Beach Palace and Moon Palace. It is difficult to make a choice when you have not been to the locations. I heard that service at the Moon Palace is a 8/10 because of its size, whereas at Beach Palace is a 10. Yet, location and activity wise, it seems like Moon Palace is the way to go…

Any thoughts will be much appreciated, and congrats once again!! woot.gif

Ive been to MP several times. There is a lot of seagrass in the water that washes ashore. They do their best to clean it up daily with a truck. Not many people get in the water-but some do, myself included. Sometimes there is more grass than other times. That said-you can always take the resort bus to downtown Cancun for the day and stay at the Beach Palace (which is worth a trip no matter what). The water there is a beautiful blue with lots of waves. Despite not getting in the water-I still chose MP for my October 2013 wedding as there is so much more to do there, including golf. There are also soooo many bars and restaurants and the service is outstanding! I also liked that it is not in the hotel zone, but a little more private-while still being so close to the action.

Hi everyone! Newly engaged bride-to-be here! :) So glad I stumbled upon this site. Question-Did anyone or is anyone using their own photographer?! Mine are personal friends and doing my destination wedding gratis (free)!! I will, of course be paying for their travel expenses and room. I wanted to know if they charge some kind of fee for bringing my own. Also, does anyone have buffet menus/options and do they charge and how much?! The tables are $300 a piece for decor, but how much do they charge for the food?! Someone said they spent $20K on their wedding!! I had no clue it could get that expensive. I am only having about 30-35 people anyways. Thanks! I look forward to all the info found here :)

Ladies and Gents if you have not already listed your wedding on this thread you may find it useful.

Brides (& grooms) can see who is getting married on dates close to them . It is handy too as some wedding parties have shared the cost of some vendors (particularly when taking their own photographers)

“Post Your Wedding Date"

To ensure everyone knows how this works please go to the last post of this thread, select "quote" the last entry and add your name, forum name, wedding date & location in chronological order.

I have found it great and hope you do to

Happy Planning ~ Kirstin x

Sounds like we are in the same boat! I am also getting married in August 2014!

While I haven't booked our stay yet, I think I have decided on Moon Palace simply based on what I have read. MP does seem to have much more to do and I like the idea of staying at a bigger resort, especially if we want to try to sneak away from our guests! The only thing I can see that I like about Beach Palace is the beach, so I am sure that we will do a day trip there for one day.

My other issue is that I have heard the resort does not start booking weddings until the beginning of the year. That would put us at this time next year. I want to be able to book our stay sometime soon in order to take advantage of the good deals, but am worried that I will not get the day that I want for the wedding itself. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Wow, i did not know that, thanks for the heads up! Although Moon Palace is still in our list, we have decided to entertain other locations like Punta Cana (our original choice) and Costa Rica. What I liked from the Palace Resorts is that they offer you up to $1,500 credit p/room based on the number of rooms that you book. As far as I am concern this credit can be used toward the spa, golf, cocktail ceremony etc. I would also like to have something set by the first week of February so we can communicate our guests way in advance before they start planning their 2014 vacations. Good luck!

We stayed at Moon Palace and loved it- esp with a large group.  We had 40 people attend our wedding and it was perfect- Moon Palace is big enough (don't get me wrong- MP is HUGE) that if people want to do they own thing they can and then if they want to hang out in the group they can do that too! You would think that you wouldn't run into people because it is so big but you do!! Just make sure you get a room block with your TA and everyone will be in the same section!! You'll see people at breakfast and walking around near your rooms and then we claimed a section of the beach and called it "our beach" so that way if you needed to find someone in the group- just head to the beach- someone is always there! (well not at night of course but we hung out at the palaypa by the beach and pool at night!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
