Vintage Destination Wedding Inspiration (With Pictures!)

Recommended Posts

I'm a huge lover of anything vintage/rustic. I'm trying to figure out to include vintage and starfish into one wedding. I haven't picked out colors yet because, I want it to flow together. Our wedding is in Cancun, Mexico.

LOVE love this stuff! And you sure have been busy! I would love to see pictures!

I'm in Alberta too! Would you mind if I asked where you found the starfish? And where you are at?

Heres what I used:

Shabby Chic Flower Girl Basket Rustic Wedding Decor (item B10086)Easel For Wedding Chalkboards SET of 2 (item P10090)Shabby Chic Wedding Signs Rustic Decor (item P10231)

Im also using burlap table runners, paper lanters, beachwood garland, and just last weekend I scored and found 5 bags of the big finger point starish's (which are nearly impossible to find in alberta canada!!!) and 3 bags of small starfish that I am using for seating names. For the ceremony pamphlets I am gluing burlap squares on cream paper then stencilling our initials on the front in pearly cream paint, menu cards will be similar but I am trying to find lace for the trim. Our center pieces our going to be medium sized pomander balls on top of vases that are filled with pearly conch shells.

Our wedding colors are burnt orange and aqua blue, so half of our lanterns are small orange and medium blue, the rest white and we are stil deciding if we want blue or orange chair sashes or burlap chair sashes.

What else is everyone doing?

WINNERS!! I totally lucked out and found 5 bags at homesense in edmonton, they had the big starfish and the small ones as well. And then my mom found 2 bags of miscellanous cream and blue shells at winners in Grande Prairie, definitely check out them out Im sure they will get more. I dont have any more pictures of the stuff I got however I got the burlap garland (table runners for me ha ha) at Michaels and I ordered my lanterns from ebay.

All of my items were ordered online. I noticed they came from Mexico, China or The Philippines. Everything was packaged so well and nothing broke when it arrived to me. So I'm going to stick the entire box into my luggage like this...

I'm sure you could fit a case of mason jars in a luggage and still have room for more. Also, take advantage of your guests...they can help you haul some things down for you as well. The KEY is you just have to ask ;)

I hope this helps...

Where did you order the skinny cylande candles?

Here's a few photos from our vintage travel inspired wedding in Tulum, Mexico on May 22nd! I'll post my professional pictures once I get them. There were lots of details, such as vintage suitcases, a globe, lots of mason jars and a DIY photobooth station that I don't have any photos of yet. We purchased or made everything ourselves rather than renting, even the exposed bulb lighting. We sourced everything from our travels to Vancouver, Palm Springs, and a handful of cities around Mexico. Pretty much the only things we rented were the tiffany chairs, bamboo mats and the gazebo! Although the hanging bottles and flower garlands on the gazebo are mine.

For you brides that are getting married in the Riviera Maya in the next year that are having trouble figuring out how to bring vintage decor items down here, or can't seem to find companies down here that rent decor items like this (there aren't many in this area, if any at all) please send me an inbox message! I'd be happy to talk with you about an affordable rental! :)

Thanks Allie! I guess I should mention that I live down here in Playa Del Carmen, and that's how I was able to collect so many of my own things to use for the wedding. I wish I could relive that day over and over! I'm counting down the days to our professional photos and video. :)

Mason jars...anything to do with them screams vintage & rustic.

I am doing a beach rustic AHR, so I will be raiding my families basements for them!

I know your wedding was a few years ago, but your dress is stunning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
