Did you manage to get any alone time after your destination wedding?

My Fiance and I were concerned about this as well.  What we decided to do was to switch over to another hotel for our "honeymoon." We will be staying at our wedding hotel for 5 nights, and then we'll switch to the other hotel for our honeymoon for another 5 nights. Hope this helps!

I understand the desire to spend a day as a newly wed couple with just your husband right after your wedding. After much discussion with my FI, for ourselves, we are planning to have a separate trip for our honeymoon. We value that people have taken the time and expense to travel to celebrate our wedding with us, and also we are able to have a family vacation together. So, we plan to spend the whole week with those who have come, and then take the time for ourselves at a later date

We are staying 11 nights and it was stated on our invitations our travel dates and honeymoon plans. We plan on spending the first portion and 2 days after the wedding with our guest and then having our honeymoon time the last 5 days. All of my guest have seemed ok with it they were all planning to come before and only stay 4 to 5 nights.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know my mom has talked about giving us some alone time the day after the wedding, and I'm sure she'll make it known among everyone that we'd just want one day to ourselves. I think everyone that's going is going to be more than okay with it, and we'll only have 20 or so people there so we'll have more than enough time with them the rest of the week

We are staying from the 11-18th. But on the Save the Dates and on our wedding website we put the 13-16th. I know most of our guests can't afford to take a whole week off which is great for us. And if they can we don't really want them to know exactly how long we will be there and which days. So to allow us time together we just listed the group travel dates. We have been telling everyone if they want they can come early but the date everyone is leaving it the day after the wedding.   elefant.gif

Our plan is to stay a few days after everyone leaves...the wedding is Saturday and most guests are leaving on Monday or Tuesday, so we're staying until Friday.  This way we still get to hang out with everyone and have a few days to ourselves!

I don't think it's selfish at all to spend some time together, and most reasonable guests understand that. We're staying at a villa for the 5 days coming up to the wedding, then another week in a completely different villa, probably about 20 minutes away. That's our honeymoon.

This is personal choice, but at the end of the day, your guests aren't going to your wedding JUST to be with you, they want to enjoy the sun, the food, the activities as well. And I'd like to start my married life well, with my husband. I'll try to spend lots of enjoyable meaningful time with my guests BEFORE the wedding, and then they'll expect us to be gone. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
