He have opted not to do STD invites and will only send out formal invites 10 months prior to our wedding date.  However, we will include a wedding date reminder (STD) magnet with our formal invitations.  Since we are also putting together a wedding website, sending STDs just seemed like an unnecessary expense since we have a total of +/- 25 guests.  Even though most havenâ€t committed the exact date to memory, theyâ€re all well aware that we are getting married in May of 2013. Our RSVP is in February of 2013 which correlates with the date when we can cancel rooms in our room block without penalty.

We ended up sending a SDT with a PRE-RSVP so I get an idea of how many people are planning to attend so I know how many rooms to reserve at the resort. then my plan is to only send official invites to the people that rsvpd they were coming. I am getting surprised though people who I thought wouldn't be coming are attending.

ahh.. really?  :o( I have some family members and friends saying hurry up and send the invites!.. but yet I don't think they know we've decided on a date.  I figured it would be the best way for people to have no excuses of "Aww, I'm sorry I'd love to go but you didn't give me enough time to save" Although these people have known for months we are doing a DW, but I figured the invites would be "offical"

When should I send them out? Or should I do a save the date (if we ever get our pics made) and then invitations a few months later?

What kind of invites are you doing?  And where did you get your magnets?  I love this idea, but have no clue where to begin to look.

Hey MissBubles!

My invites will be cymbidium orchid themed boarding passes. Regarding the magnets, I will be purchasing them from vistaprint.  You can can customize them anyway you want.  I'll be uploading my wedding logo:

We had an engagement party where we revealed the date 14 months in advance, So people had time to plan. Just sending out the STDs now (7 mo in advance) and then the invites in June( 4 mo in advance). When I started I wanted to get them out sooner rather than later, but life caught up to me and we postponed it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
