Im not doing an at home reception so i cant respond about that. But on the room situation we also were kinda annoyed they would only do 20 junior suites for room block but in the end we had a lot of people book ocean view suites, they were acutually getting booked faster than the junior suites.

Hi girls,

I finally got my group contract signed and I think my parents are finally on board with the final invitation list lol. I wanted to get some advice on when to send out invitations and when to have the RSVP by. I don't know anyone who has had a destination wedding, so I'm not exactly sure what proper etiqutte is. Our wedding is June 2013 so when should people RSVP by? Thanks for the suggestions!

Congrats Kim7799 on your destination wedding! you're sure to find great info at this BDW thread......http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/86/wedding-etiquette-traditions-to-dos

From our experience, it's best to get everything booked that you can asap...when you have a firm date. ....ie we often book reservations a year or more in advance.

A good rule of thumb is what would you like - if you were the recipient? personally, I'd like as much advance notice as possible (ie for "save the date" notices) to be able to prepare with as much lead time as possible. That being said, it depends a lot on the person.....some work well with last minute plans and make more impulsive decisions with "last-minute" reminders.

I guess the bottom line is to do what works best for you......as is so often the case :)

Enjoy your planning process and fantastic journey ahead.......all the best! 1000

I would send something out asap. I sent out my invites in June/July 2012 for my January 24, 2013 wedding. I had a rsvp date of Sept 1, 2012 and payment in full was needed by September 30, 2012. We have since changed providers and this extended the payment date, so we informally delayed our RSVP date.

While a couple people jumped at the opportunity, I still have some people requesting more information, and thinking about being added to our group rate. Humming and hawing because of the money. Some people have also booked outside our group rate with a different agency, and others have booked using airmiles. Many others are waiting (stupidly in my opinion) for last minute deals to come up.

So be careful if your TA is requesting deposits. We were suprised how few we actually people actually booked with our group.

Good Luck :)

Hi everyone,

Reading this thread has been great....I'm thinking of booking the beloved for aug 2013 wedding and I'm 99% positive this is the resort.  Would anyone please be able to send me price information you have on the beloved hotel please?  I haven't booked anything yet but I am wanting to cost it before I book anything.  I was looking for more information regarding - flowers, decorations, DJ's, mariachi band, food choices for reception and cocktail hour... any information anyone has would be great - thank you!

Nicola

Hi Everyone, I just booked my wedding at the Beloved for December 2013 and we are so excited! Im working with a travel agent and Alejandro, both have been great. We reserved a block of rooms for our guests and they will work with the travel agent on payments, number of nights, etc. does anyone have any advice or pictures for locations at the Beloved for the reception? I know there are multiple choices and we are looking for something that will be private for our 30-40 guests and modern. Also, I'd love to know who people are using for photographers or music.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
