Photography @ Dreams Tulum vs Mayan Rivera

Recommended Posts

Ok so... Ive done alot of searches and cant come up with much... hahaha!

My FH and I have decided photography is a huge part of this day for us! Pictures are going to last us a lifetime and so Im a little sketchy about using the Dreams Tulum photographer... but... then again... I havent even seen any of their work....

so Im wondering... does anyone out here have any pics by the photographer at Dreams Tulumhuh.gif?

seeing as the package we've booked includes the photographer I'll still probably use him/her regardless... but I am looking at affordable alternatives.... and not having much luck.... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif I LOVE del sol photography... but alas its way out of my price range...

any suggestions would be great :)

Thank you

Joann

Karen and I used Vanessa Vargas when we got married at Dreams Tulum and were more than happy with her. What we did was to email just about every photographer in the area down there asking for prices on custom packages to fit what we wanted and what we could afford. Just about everyone responded with a price quote that was not part of their standard package prices. We chose Vanessa, because we loved her work so much, and she was also in the price range of what we could afford.

I found this website to be useful. It has a "packages starting at" section.

We were just discussing using the hotel photographer just because it's part of the package in a different thread. The advice was not to hire someone & use the hotel photographer at the same time. Maybe see if they can shoot a different day for another event. Otherwise, just lose that part of your package.

I was going to use the hotel photographer because they were within my budget of $600-$1000. Not that I don't value photography, but I'm working with a very small budget. I emailed my hotel WC & asked for info about who they use. She sent me the website & I was very unimpressed. The pictures are cheesy & very staged.

After doing a little more research I've found there are plenty of good photographers who are within my budget in the area. I am waiting to hear back from Vanessa Vargas who Jason & Karen hired. I've also been in contact with Eduardo Machuca. I've talked to couple who were very happy with him. He's not as experienced, but I do like his photography style. His prices are also great.

I'm very happy to see there are options as affordable as the hotel photographer that are much better.

Photography is also very important to me so I decided to not chance it and lucked out by getting a great price with Robin De Paula.

Lisa's pictures are really nice. Much better than the photographer my hotel uses.

The signature photo is by Vanessa and the photos in the 'wedding photos' link are hers. The honeymoon photos are from our own photos we took on the trip.

I spent quite an amount of time researching photographers down there and once I had some contenders in mind I just started emailing them all. I outlined what we wanted and did not want and asked them what they could do for us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
