Iberostar Beach Resort - BEWARE!! ROACHES AT THE REOSRT.

Recommended Posts

I got married on 11/11/11! It was perfect. The down sound was the resort we choose to stay at with our families. I choose the Iberostar because I saw good reviews on tripadvisor and my travel agent said the resort was nice as well. We arrived and the resort was beautiful! Upon arrival the staff greeted us and actually new we were to be wed that week. My parents first room smelled like mildew so they asked to upgrade. They were upgraded to a room right next to ours! On top of that champagne was given to my parents instead of us.

On the day of the wedding my mother woke up to a roach in her hair and a roach on my wedding dress which was in her room. ( thank goodness i found out after the wedding). My parents later got a t shirt and a letter.  We got married at the Ritz and it was magical. Images going to be up soon on another thread.

The resort has three places to eat that you have to have a reservation. The reservations are based on the number of days you stay at the resort. We were unable to have a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding because we were told there was no space. So for the day after the wedding we were given a reservation for 18. The day came and we had 4 or 5 extra people.  We asked if we could get everyone in at one time. The restaurant only had one table in use at the time of request. I went to the reservation desk to see what could be done and was asked were did I get married. When did I get married. The manager of the restaurant asked my family the same thing.

After coming home I contacted the headquarters of the resort to let them know the level of service or lack there of we received. That was almost two months ago and I have not received any thing back.

Side note: I tried to get married at this resort first, but I got the run around from three different planners.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
