Hi Candace

Congrats on your engagement.

We have decided to go with the resort since it is going to cost way to much to bring our own photographer. With flight and room alone it would be over $2000.

My guest have not asked about the deals but it seems to me that they are always going on.

Hi Amn and Damon, Thank you both for your reply and help. We are trying to get our save the dates out with all the booking info before the end of March...Its crazy how fast everything goes.  Im still stuck on the resort photographer thing. I may offer to pay for my cousins accom and the rolls of film etc.. and have her do it...Im just worried about picture quality and the amount of time we will have with the photographer.  humm something to think on. Im wishing everyone good luck with there planing :)

Hi girls! Good luck on all your weddings! I went with Devon Shaw from jamaican wedding photos, he is located in Montego Bay. He charged us $1300.00 for 3 hrs. He went above and beyond as far as pictures go. I put a link up in my first reply, if you click on it and scroll down to our wedding photos there is 6 slide shows! It was well worth the money! The resort we got married in gave 10 free pictures but they weren't near the quality of what Devon did. I wasn't going to get him because of the extra expense but now that I look back I am so happy I did! I wish you all the best in your up coming marriages! Xo Angela

I am a destination photographer, and in my experience, couples have not had to pay an additional outside vendor fee since I am always considered a guest at their wedding since I am a paying guest at their resort. Obviously with me having to stay a few nights, they are making more money by me being a guest than paying an outside vendor fee :) Sandals are usually pretty cooperative, just speak with a wedding coordinator too, who can get it waived for you :)

Hey Candace, my suggestion would be to find someone outside of your family who is willing to travel. Can't be too careful about photo quality, and you probably want your family to enjoy themselves instead of worrying about photos.

My husband and I are pro wedding photographers. We actually have a special on destination weddings for anyone who books with us in 2012. For accomodations + travel we will photograph you guys all day on the wedding day, do an engagement session a few days before if there is time, and do a Day After session.

Feel free to message me if you are interested :)

So the part that really frustrates me is the fact that I am a wedding photographer/videographer. So you already know I will scrutinize the you-know-what out of the photos. You would think that a flight, room, and small cash settlement would mean a free vacation to any photographer but these guys are wanting flights, rooms, AND an extra $2-3k for their services. If it were me, I'd take the room and flight while deeply discounting the service. But I guess that's just me and this is how these guys make a living. How I would love to be a destination photographer. LOL.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
