2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Hey ladies, I leave in 5 days!! So crazy! In regards to photography, when I did a site visit we were thinking about doing engagement pictures with Funever Photos (the resorts photographer), but when we got down there and saw their work we thought it would be a waste of money. We didn't ask to see their whole portfolio, but they had quite a few pictures displayed (wedding, casual, and engagements type photos) and we weren't impressed. I had already been considering getting an outside photographer but that made up my mind. The pictures looked like I could have taken them with my own camera. They didn't have that professional/retouched look to them. I wanted to make sure we loved our pictures so we went with Ivan Luckie, and he's been great to work with to this point.
Holy cow! 5 days!! So exciting!! You mentioned Funever...I'm going blue in the face trying to get responses from the Wedding Coordinator and the company itself (pretty bad if you ask me...that they won't even email me back) to see if there are any examples of their videography besides their marketing video and I'm getting nowhere! So irritating! We're bringing our own photographers from the states but I'm afraid I'm going to regret not having a videographer so I was willing to consider paying the outrageous $500 bucks to have the ceremony filmed...you didn't happen to see any of their video work did you when you were there? I can't find any brides or anything on Google which worries me and makes me wonder why this chain works with them...

Thank-u Emily11386 for your photography input.  I'm on a mission now, researching and contacting photographers for rates and package deals.  I did contact Ivan Luckie and those rates were pretty good!  Those rates plus the outside vendor fee comes out cheaper with certain packages.  And even if we choose one of the higher pacakages, it might be the same price or a bit more.  But if the work is better, than it will be worth it.  I too contact funever for more info and got zero response.  Where as Ivan L. got back to me the next day.  First impression is everything!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!  I'm excited for you!  Hope you guys have an AMAZING wedding!  And hope you come back with some great reviews for us and great pix (want to see how Ivan L's work is cheesy.gif)  And Congratulations!

Just got back home from our wedding a few days ago and everything was AMAZING!!!! I will try and post my review later today or tomorrow. Feel free to message me if you have any particular questions.  We stayed at the Royal but our ceremony was at the Chapel and our reception was at Villas Terrace.  Happing planning to everyone =)

I think one of the brides on here who just got married got a video... Joannaleigh did you mention that?

I remember someone got the video. They weren't able to post it but said it was really good and worth it!

I'm debating this one right now.... I am so torn on the $500 with no samples of work.

@txbrideinmexico........ The resorts photographer and videographer was at my ceremony even though I had my own photographers and videographers. They met up with us the day after the wedding and had us select 24 pics (it was included in our package) and showed us the video. I'll tell you this, I don't think the video was breath taking but they did a good job and even put music to it. They told us the video was $250 and I was able to talk him down to $150!!!! We still didn't buy it because we had already spent $1, 000 on our videographer and I could see my videoagraphers next to them in the video and it made me think they both had the same footage. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well I think this just solidified that I won't be getting the smallest video package they offer at $500!!! Lol! It's not included in my package but I'm afraid I'll regret not having the full ceremony on video years from now and we're bringing our photographers down with us so I refuse to pay an outside vendor fee just for a videographer (who I'm sure would be more expensive!)...thank you for your help! I still haven't heard back from them anyways which I think is inexcusable when I've had other vendors answer me within the hour! Thank you so much! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
