We have the Presential suite at the Royal, but since most of my bridesmaids, my parents, and aunts are staying at the Gran Caribe we can't get ready there. I will probably have about 12 people with me and I don't know if the regular rooms at the GCR are big enough. They said even if I bought them day passes, which would probably be too expensive anyways at $65 each, they aren't allowed in our room!

where is the wedding being held, I have guests staying at the GCR  and I was told that they can come help me in my room 3 hours prior to the ceremoy to help me get ready. Hope that helps

yeah Lady's   cheers.gif  how exciting. I am also at the GCR July 5, 2013. Hope I don't pass out from the heat! I am new to this site and terrible with computers but I just wanted to offer any tips on Cancun or Playa, Cozumel, Tulum, etc. We love to travel and have been there several times. I see a lot of brides packing a lot of things for the guest that are so cheap over there. There is a great store for all the Mexican style souvenirs shells, maracas etc. I have been to all the Flea markets over there and i have to tell you if you are white and don't speak Spanish be prepared to spend way too much $. The store is everything they sell in the flea markets t-shirts and stuff. But in a mall called the Luxury mall. Last place you would think. I am not sure the name but first floor. cant miss it. Has to be cheapest store in there. Also a great place to hit up on your last day to pic up any souvenirs for family on the low. Just a tip. I also know great places to eat and etc if anyone interested.

Yeah Congrats Lady's cheers.gif  We Will be there for our big day July 5, 2013 I have already begun the hotel reservations myself/contract due to the fact the hotel is overbooked for the week of our wedding. They never sent me any notification and we were all just waiting till after the Holidays to pay. Now I am collecting all the info and room count and $ which I did not want to do! But The Hotel has been super nice and accommodating. I am getting a little concerned tho because I keep asking for the contract and even calling wanting to pay deposit. 2 weeks and still no contract. Ramiro keeps assuring me the rooms are on hold.Hope so we are at 36 guest and i haven't even sent out our passport invites. I decided to get a contract with United also they only booked half and now the price has gone from 500 to 741$ a ticket. I found out today and cried a lot. Any ways, I just wanted to offer my knowledge to y'all about Cancun, Playa, Tulum, the Cenotes etc..We have been there several times. I also wanted to note that I see a lot of BDW taking a lot of stuff (maracas, etc) I know the best "cheapest place to get all your Mexican style souvenirs. in the last place you would think. The Luxury mall that has a giant Louis Vuitton sign out front. I m not sure the name but it is on the first floor. most stuff a dollar. All the small tequila bottle, t-shirts, magnets, etc...We always go on our last day on the way to airport to grab souvenirs for family. they always have a free beach bad deal too! I don't recommend the flea markets for any of this stuff and we have been to all those too. so if any one want restaurant or stuff to do???

I deal with Elsa and it's hit or miss in terms of communicating with her. I found that she was really good at getting back to me at the beginning and then we hit a few bumps on the road where I was doing negotiations and she wouldn't budge. I finally got things my way. And as for paying for friends who will be doing your photography, I would argue on that one especially if they are staying with you for the week. If they are staying for a few days then I can understand that, but my friend who is doing photography is staying the whole week and I thought it was ridiculous to pay an outside vendor fee when they are a Real guest. I don't care about the discount they give you on that vendor fee. I ain't paying it when he's my guest!! That's stupid and I made sure they didn't charge me for that. I am printing a copy of that agreement we made in writing and will have it there if they give me any problems with that.

Honestly, I make a big stink about things because some of the things they charge you for are outrageous. Stand your ground and if it means so much to you, don't take No for an answer ladies!

I actually spoke with Elsa on the phone and she answered all questions I had and I told her to please send it again to me in writing. If you really need an answer and she doesn't get back to youin a couple of days, maybe it's worth a shot to call her up. She seems nice on the phone. I'm sure she gets busy during this time of the year coz there's more weddings. I have to stop and think to give her a break when that happens. But if I don't hear back in a week, I get on her over the phone.

Hope that helps. Can't wait to hear all about your weddings for those January brides. I'm getting more and more excited!

Emily- we are staying in the pres suite as well. one of my bridesmaids, my MOH, is staying at the Gran Caribe. When we were down there for a site visit I asked Diana if she would be able to get ready in our room and she said yes that wouldn't be a problem. She said my niece couldn't come though (she will be 4). I'm obviously still going to attempt to get her there though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
