So just heard back from Real Resorts about the $400 segmentation fee. They won't budge on removing that. But they did give me an option to contact the events department to see if I can do it as a separate event from the wedding. Apparently it can be done. But I don't know what the cost is so I am going to look into contacting them and see if it would be worth doing so. Otherwise, I am thinking for the $400 we are going to spend for a gap between events, we may as well pay for the cocktail hour which would be equivalent to the fee....

Ay caramba!!!!

Hey everyone, I'm currently in Cancun! Took a walk by the GRC and The Royal and wished we were there. We debated going there but didn't want 3 vacations in a row at the same place. We are vacationing at Le Blanc. It's definitely a nice resort and has nice touches but personally so far I like The Royal better. I was wondering if anyone attended the webinar and learned any new info. I was hoping to be able to attend but wasn't. Hope all is well!

Hello Emily, I hope you had or are having a great time in Cancun. I participated in the webinar last Saturday and it was very helpful. The ladies from Real Resorts provided Tammy with the sideshow presentations that were shown to us and she emailed those who wanted it. There is a little more updated info captured in these attachments that I did not initially receive so if you would like a copy send a message to my inbox with your email. One of my questions was the outside vendor fee. Basically the vendor fee attaches for each type of vendor so you pay the fee for an outside photographer (at minimum this can include the photographer and a assistant), but if you also have a videographer, you have to pay another outside fee for that vendor since its a different service. Depending on how long the vendor is there, you may also need to pay to their meal and drinks. If you have a friend attending the wedding as a guest who takes photos that is allowed with no vendor fee, but if it appears they are a local professional they will charge you if they are not staying at the hotel for the 2 night minimum. They will get that fee one way or the other. This logic applies to everything (minister, make up, etc). You are allowed to have vendors drop off things without a charge but you have to be responsible for transportig and setting up anything that is labor intensive or pay an extra rate for them to do it (like stringing lIghts to the palm trees, complicated chair bow decorations).

Hi Ladies!

I am getting married at the GCR March 14, 2013!! We are getting married in the Catholic Chapel followed by a private cocktail hour and private reception at the Albatros Terrace. I am very excited!!

Has anyone thought about doing a welcome reception for your guests? We want to do something extra for our family and friends making the trip and that is the only thing I can think of. Let me know if anyone is considering doing the same or has other ideas :)

We are thinking to take people on an excursion. Something to do away from the resort and have some fun... maybe one of the cave/ziplining things.... Since we will already be doing a sit down dinner for the wedding day, why not step out and have some fun with everyone?

Hi, Fellow Real Resort Brides!  My husband and I had our wedding at the GCR Catholic Chapel and private reception at the Albatros Terrace on May 5, 2012.  Everything was awesome!  I'm in the middle of writing a review, but it's been crazy since we got back!  I will get the review up as soon as I can. In the meantime, if you guys have any questions, please feel free to ask.  I know that when I was planning, I had a lot of unanswered questions.  It all worked out in the end, but I hated not knowing!

Anyway, if I can answer any questions, I'd be happy to!

Norma

Thanks! The excursion is a great idea :) I am a resort newbie, do you know if there a way to see what excursions are offered before we get there?

Yea...just google excursions in Cancun, Mexico and you will get a bunch of things. I had to do that as some people who are looking into doing things was inquiring and I found so many things online. But I know that if you book the excursion through the resort you can get it for a lot cheaper, especially if you have a big group. I wouldn't do it in advance.... since you're new to this, that's the best advice I can give you. The resort usually offers the same or similar excursions from what you will see online.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
