I read through many of the pages of threads to get information and ensure I wanted to book with this resort.  Have most of you done the a la carte or wedding packages?

I think a lot of it depends on what you want and how many people. At first I booked the Classic Catholic (I don't know if this is still an option) but I ended up having so many guests that I realized it was a better deal to upgrade to the Royal package. It includes more people at the discounted rates for the reception plus bride's hair and nails and a couple other things we would have paid for al la carte. It ended up so that we didn't save much money (the two were very close with our guest count) but got some things thrown in that we wouldn't have splurged on otherwise like a couples massage. Also keep in mind that if you upgrade, you lose the value of the included item. I.e. If you want the luxury bouquet you don't get to subtract the price of the $100 standard bouquet. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind when you run your cost analysis.

That was my question.  In my luxury package, I see that a bouquet is included and when I look at the different bouquets it says $100.  So do I pay an extra $100 even though it states it is included in my package.

I also have seen a lot of brides say that the items that were not used in their package went toward something else.  How did you work that out?

HEY LADIES I'M BACK!!!!!!!!! THE WEDDING WAS AAAAAMMMAAZINGGG!!! EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY!!!! DONT ANYYY OF YOU STRESS ANYMORE!!! SERIOUSLY, YOU MEET W/ EVERYONE ONCE YOU GET DOWN THERE, FROM THE PRIEST TO THE DJ TO THE WEDDING PLANNER. THEY'RE USED TO THIS, THEY HAVE A WEDDING @LEAST ONCE A WEEK. OUR GUESTS CHECKED IN JUST FINE (MOST OF THEM EXCEPT 1 STAYED AT THE GCR) AND IT WAS PRETTY NICE!!! MY SISTER LOVED IT SO MUCH SHE ENDED UP BUYING THE TIMESHARE AT THE ROYAL!! WHICH BTW THEY DO QUICKLY APPROACH YOU BOUT IT AS SOON AS YOU GET DONE CHECKING IN (THEY SAY THEY'RE GOING TO JUST GIVE YOU INFO ON THE RESORT ON WHERE AND HOW TO FIND THINGS AND THEY DIVE INTO THEIR "CLUB" TALK)WE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED THEM (THEY'RE THE PEOPLE DRESSED IN ALL WHITE, SO YOU MISS THEM!!!) OTHER THEN THAT IT WAS ALL SMOOTH SAILING. WE DID REHERSAL AT CHAPEL THE NIGHT BEFORE (CHAPEL IS ALWAYS OPEN AND AVAILABLE, UNLESS THERE'S A WEDDING GOING ON OF COURSE, OR SUNDAY MASS WHICH THEY DO) AND ALL MET AT ALBATROS FOR DINNER AFTER. IF YOU'RE THERE AT A DECENT TIME THEY WILL DEF ACCOMODATE YOU. JUST ASK FOR TABLES OF 10. THEY WILL SIT YOU ALL CLOSE. THE FOOD AT RESORT WAS PRETTY GOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL ALL ROUND. EVERYONE WAS NICE AND I THINK AS LONG AS YOU'RE NICE AND COURTEOUS TO THE STAFF THEY WILL BE NICE IN RETURN. WE DID HAVE TO WAIT FOR OUR UPGRADE THE NEXT DAY... IT WAS KINDA ANNOYING, BUT NOT A TRAGEDY.THE UPGRADE WAS PRETTY NICE, OCEANFRONT FACING THE POOL. THE DAY OF WEDDING I HAD ROOM SERVICE SENT (COULDNT EAT OF COURSE!!) AND WENT TO GET HAIR DONE W MY GIRLS! THEY WORKED SO QUICKLY (AND MY HAIR IS DEF NOT EASY TO DEAL W/!!!) BUT IT MADE ME CRY SEEING THE RESULTS (I HAD HAD A HAIR TRIAL ON WED BEFORE WEDDING AND I ALSO CRIED THEN!!) IT WAS JUST AMAZING THE WORK THEY DID. AFTER HAIR WENT TO MY ROOM AFTER MY MOH GAVE ME WRONG KEY SMH( LETS NOT EVEN GET STARTED ON THAT!!) SO WENT BACK TO LOBBY PRAYIN I WOULDNT SEE MY NOW HUSBAND, AND I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO GO UP TO FRONT DESK, 1 OF THE TIMESHARE GIRLS GRABBED THE WRONG KEY AND REACTIVATED IT SO I COULD GET INTO ROOM. THAT WAS THE ONLY HICCUP I CAN THINK OF THROUGH WHOLE DAY!!! I WILL TRY TO PUT A REVIEW UP WHEN I CAN AS I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF MOVING. THE CEREMONY WAS BEAUTIFUL, THE COCKTAIL HOUR GOOD!!!, AND RECEPTION JUST FELT SOOO SHORT!! BUT WE DID CONTINUE PARTYING IN LOBBY. THE WHOLE LOBBY ERUPTED INTO APPLAUD WHEN I CAME  IN :) FELT PRETTY COOL!! BTW THERE WILL BE RANDOM STRANGERS TAKING PICS OF YOU....WEIRDDDD LOL BUT LADIES I CANT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW YOU SHOULDNT STRESS AT ALL. I KNO IT'S EASIER SAID THEN DONE, BUT THEY HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. I BET ALL OF YOU ARE 10 TIMES MORE ORGANIZED THEN MYSELF AND I THINK MY WEDDING TURNED OUT PERFECT, SO I CANT IMAGINE ALL OF YOURS BEING ANY LESS!!! :D ENJOY THE PLANNING BC AFTER YOU WILL FEEL VERY SAD AS I DID ON OUR HONEYMOON LOL. ANY QUESTIONS JUST ASK!!

You looked amazing!  And your wedding looked like so much fun  Congratulations!

Did you guys have the 3 hour reception or did you add an extra hour?  And if you don't mind me asking, did the chairs you had at the reception come standard or did you pay extra for those?

Thanks for the update! That's good to know that the chapel is available when there are no weddings. My WC told me $400 to reserve it for the rehearsal. Since my wedding is on a Monday and they won't do Sunday weddings in the chapel, it's nice to know I can just show up and use it real quick for the rehearsal. My plan B is just to do the rehearsal on the beach - I think everyone can figure out what to do :)

Can't wait to see pictures and hear more reviews!

Congrats!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
