Oh!!!  You have to check it out!  If you don't have a store near you, you can shop online.

www.hobbylobby.com

They have the true touch flowers online as well!  Here's a link to the ivory boutonierre, but they have other colors/options.  If you sign up for their emails you receive weekly coupons as well.  I put my bouquets together with a pair of strong scissors (to cut the stems), a hot glue gun, ribbon I already had, and the 5 stems I purchased.  We bought the boutonierres there, which are 50% off at the moment, so $1.50.  If I find anything else like this or see anything that is a neat tip/trick once I get to GCR I'll be sure to share it with you girls!

I know there were a couple of you that got ridiculous quotes on flowers from the hotel, so did I! I got a quote back on the centerpiece I wanted from my WC of $390, which I thought was absurd. I emailed Marvin from Maya Floral, he comes very highly recommended on here so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask him to give me a price. Well he quoted me the same exact centerpiece at $185. I haven't confirmed anything with him yet, but I'm pretty sure I would definitely use him. Even paying a vendor fee I would be saving so much (almost $200 per centerpiece)! additionally, he sent me pictures of similar centerpieces that he's already done along with matching bridesmaids bouquets with each corresponding price. He responded within a couple of hours as well.

I too was told I couldn't mail anything in advance.  I guess it might have made me nervous anyway...I'd rather pay the extra luggage and have it with me in collapsable bags.  It's my welcome bags that I need the extra space for...I'm barely bringing more than my dress and shoes for the actual wedding!  So I won't need to bring it all home either.

I love this forum! You have all been so helpful with opinions and options. It really has helped me calm the nerves. I sent over a nice batch of questions to my WC just now, emailed Marvin last night and am looking into artificial flowers later today. Keeping my options open without compromising what I truly want :) thanks ladies!

It's hit or miss w/ the prices....1 of my friends paid less then 1k! (895) for each her boyfriend and herself for 6 days @ the resort, but i've been looking for that deal and cant find it. Most of my family and friends have paid anywhere from 1200 to 1600. It's def hard to even negotiate w the resort. They were quoting me more then expedia was showing for just the resort stay!! What might also be more expensive is the time of year you're getting married :( Dont worry your family and friends will make it happen!! There are def cheaper resorts so it's not Mexico or the Hotel Zone, it's Gran Caribe...
Thanks!!! Wow $895 does some like a great deal!! My TA is currently getting me rates for Gran Caribe but now I saw another resort that I like (Barcelo Maya Palace) so I compare both and make a decision from there.

Hello Ladies! Happy Wedding Planning, Definitely this page has made the process so much better. I log on everyday excited to read some of the updates. My wedding Date is June 8ht, 2013 at Gran Caribe. I will be visiting this weekend! Photographer appointment, DJ prospects, and other vendors to check for updates. I will post pictures of the visit when i come back!

Katia is my WC she has been very helpful so far, answers our emails fairly quickly. Check your junk mail for those of you that haven't recieved anything, at the beginning all of her emails would go straight to junk mail. If this isn't the case, sorry!!

Barcelo Maya was one of my choices as well.  As much as I like the Barcelo's resort more than Caribe, I can't really say no to this gorgeous chapel!

We're exciting to hear from you after your site visit!

Has Katia been accommodating to you at all?  It seems like everything is by the book and she is not being so lenient on anything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
