2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

i just got married at the chapel with a strapless dress, bridesmaids dresses also strapless.  i had also signed the paper acknowledging the rules.  no one said anything.  the only rule they seemed strict on was that you cant take the flowers out of the chapel after.  also, keep in mind that a veil technically "covers" your shoulders.  i hope you didnt change it based on that!

Emily!! I feel the same way!! now that i've booked our trip, got my dress and ordered invites I feel like there's really nothing much else to do until the time gets closer. I'm still having a hard time finding bm dresses since i'm trying to have them be below $100 so i'm working on that. Also basically buying the OOT bag stuff little by little. I have to soon go to my church and request a letter for permission to get married in chapel. Other then that I think pretty much everything can wait til later on!!.

So far here is what I have done: book our ceremony and reception, bought my dress, sent out save the dates, set up a group block with a travel agent (17 people booked so far), put the deposit down on the rooms for our 2 weeks, and picked and asked our bridal party. I think that's it. Im looking for more wedding stuff to do but I'm not really sure what. I am going to wait until we are about 7 months out and ask my bridesmaids for a definte answer so we can start picking out dresses.

Pretty much in the same boat as you. I will be working on our invitations after September (my friends wedding) and focus on small details. There really isn't much to do at this point. My girls are having issues finding their dresses for the wedding. I told them they can pick any dress they like. as long as it's in a Sunshine yellow....any style they can choose.

Our final payment for the trip is in September too because we did an early booking bonus. There's just a few small things here and there that need to get sorted out...other than, all set to go!

Well my girls are all over the world, there are only 2 here in Canada, so I don't know how to help them out. I told them if they don't see anything in the stores that they would have better luck buying it online....hope so.... my one girlfriend managed to find something online so I'm sure it will all work out.

We looked around for rates a little more than a year before the actual date of our wedding...because of that, we managed to get the price of the travel package $200 cheaper, but you have to pay your final payment sooner. Unlike if you booked under a year from the date of your wedding...then you pay the final payment 75 days or a month prior to the date of the trip. Our friends wedding in December in Punta Cana is $1520...we managed to get ours for $1330! You should inquire with your travel agent depending on when your wedding is, you might be able to take advantage of that discount!

So I am currently debating about hair and make up and want to see what you ladies think. I had a make up trial while in Cancun in May. Overall she did a great job. She also has someone she can bring with her who is a hairstylist. The issue is that I'm concerned I will have to pay the $350 outside vendor fee. She states that we would just have to pay the day pass for each of them (not that that's cheap either) but I'm not so sure. I just don't know if I'm willing to risk having to pay an extra $350 on top of their fee especially since hair and makeup is included in my package. I'm so confused!

wow!!! that's awesome mizpriya!!! We also booked our wedding a bit over a year ago smh. I cant believe we didnt have that option. we already booked unfortunately and paid a pretty penny bc we wanted to be crazy and honeymoon for 2 weeks! UGHHH Well i'm glad it worked out 4 you guys!! :) Also, bout the bm tell them to chek in David's bridal. I really wanted to stay away from there bc i wanted something diff 4 my bm's but went this weekend and they're having crazy sales for stuff that's quickly getting discontinued!! So check it out. My bridesmaids paid under 100 for each dress. Good luck :)

emily, i would just not risk it. go w/ the spa!! there a lot of brides here who have said what a wonderful job they've done. Why don't you check out one of the other artists?? I'm a bit worried myself as I might not even go 4 the trial prior to wedding day (scrappy bride over here) but in the end they really cant possibly do such a horrible job. Save yourself the $350!! Spend it on an upgrade or something else 4 honeymoon :)

Emily11386.... I would say better play it safe than be sorry. I don't know how strict the resort is, but it seems like they charge fees for every little thing and if you get caught, and it's not in your budget to spend the 350 vendor fee, don't do it. It might be suspect if they show up the day of the wedding with a day pass and then aren't there during the ceremony. And I don't know how often the wedding coordinator would pop up into your room during the day, but I would assume she would be around for you the entire time. If it were me, I would make due with the resort's salon if you are ok with that...or get a friend to do your hair and makeup. I'm a hair and makeup artist and I am thinking I will be doing my own unfortunately...I'd rather get pampered the day of, but I don't trust just anyone with my hair! And I'd rather just save the money that I would spend for my makeup to go towards something else.

Catish11 - unfortunately, 2 of my bridesmaids live in Dubai and they don't have a David's Bridal there :( I'm sure they will be able to find something and make it work! And yes we did get very lucky with the price of our tickets for the the travel package!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
