2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Agreed--the flower thing is made so much harder when it's a DW...not only because it feels like a waste of money when people can't take the flowers with them, but also just getting answers and quotes from people over there!! :( I'm actually in the middle of a tug-a-war with my WC Katia because she decided to be out of the office for like 4 weeks and not answer any emails, so I emailed her supervisor and have been getting a slow trickle of answers from her; to get a quote from the resort florist has been a huge headache.  Katia's supervisor keeps sending these ridiculously big and expensive arrangements when I've already shown her pictures of my centerpieces which are small and could not hold an arrangement that big.  I had initially considered using Maya Floral, but after one exchange from Marvin, he never wrote back to me and that was months ago even after I sent follow up emails--it was super unprofessional so I will not be giving him my business.  I'm still considering just finding a different local florist and getting the flowers dropped off outside to avoid the fee and the all around expensiveness/unresponsiveness of the resort florist.

How are you guys getting all of this stuff down there? Shipping it?
Shipping will be an issue as you have to collect the items at customs and pay!! Also they can get delayed and lost a lot of the times - so I am brining it all in suitcases and giving some hopefully over to the guests coming from the same airport! But remember to bring invoices as anything of $100 per item may be an issue and you will have to ensure them you are not selling these items in Mexico and its for a wedding. Hope it all works out Also my WC went of 3 weeks vacation as well- wonder if they are restructuring because of the buy out from Hyatt at the Royal??

Hi everyone! I'm getting married at Gran Caribe Real in May 2014. I was wondering about the private reception. They told me for a private reception it was $15 per person for the people staying at Gran Caribe. Does anyone know if this $15 includes the set up (tables, chairs, white table cloths, silverware, plates, ext) & the food? Or is is $15 per person PLUS the price of the food?

Please let me know if you find any other florists in Cancun. I'm having the same problem with Maya Floral and other florists in the area. It just takes them a long time to reply. Maybe there's a timeline they work with? Like if your wedding day is 1 month away, then you're a priority. Otherwise they let you wait.. ?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
