Hello Brides! I am going to get married August 1,2014 at the gran caribe real and so far this site has helped me out soo much! can anyone recommend a good reasonable florist, the flowers from the resort are a bit pricy, and a good bakery?

If anyone can let me know their experience staying at the resort and what their guest say about staying there? I am concerned that the pool is a bit small and no swim up bar would be a factor for some.

Another thing. Did or do your guests attending the wedding but not staying at the GCR or Royal have to pay a $100 "visitor fee" Anyone know how accurate this is?

Hi! I am new to this site and wondering the exact same thing! I read all the posts here which have been super helpful and I'm leaning towards getting married at the Gran Caribe Real. But what's holding me back is reading all the mixed reviews for this hotel. There are some very negative reviews out there! I just don't want to make my guests pay all this money to attend our wedding, only to hate the food, rooms, pool, etc. It would help us a lot if any brides can give us their opinion on the resort itself. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I am new to these forums and was actually wondering the same thing as sweetjess88. The threads and your posts have been extremely helpful and we want to get married at the GCR. Most of the wedding reviews for this resort are great, but what is really confusing is the general hotel reviews. There are so many mixed reviews and all negative ones are super disappointing! I just don't want to make our guests pay all this money to attend our wedding and then end up hating the food, pool, rooms, etc. If any brides can please give us your opinion about the resort, we would really appreciate it! I just found out that you have to pay an outside vendor fee and buy a day pass for each vendor if you would like for them to eat at the reception.  Was this the case for past brides?

I had to pay the outside vendor fee for my photographer. For their meal we had to pay for each of them as a guest (photographer and assistant). Since they weren't guests at a real resort it was the outside guest fee, but not a day pass.

My photographer and videographer said they don't need me to request them a seperate table or food .... Not sure how they are going to go right hours without food or drinks but we will see ha

Hi everyone, First, I would like to thank you all for such great feedback, it has been a great help!! My FI and I are looking to have out wedding in June 2014. My main concern is getting great pics with the water in the background. We were thinking about having the ceremony at 6pm so it will be a little cooler for our guests (and us) and I wanted to do sunset pictures afterwards. Our travel agent insists that the ceremony is 25-30 minutes and we would still have time to do photos. Does anyone have any feedback regarding times for ceremony?
