I'm having 57 people including kids, we're doing a sweat heart table for us, and assorted (2) round and (4) square tables for our guest.

If you're hiring a photographer don't forget to include them in your reception seating (i almost forgot! lol )

I'm roughly looking at having about 50-60 guest.  How many people can fit in a round table and how many at a square table?  I want an idea to see roughly how many tables we'll need and therefore, how many centerpieces I'll need to order.  Did you have a separate kids table?

I'm having about the same amount of people at my wedding, next Sunday. I would love to see some of the reception. Not sure how I should set up tables.  Can you post or send me some pictures. It would greatly be appreciated. berumen@rocketmail.com

Hi ladies! I am getting married 2/8/14 and have gone through almost all of the posts on this forum like a crazy person lol My fiance and I actually just came from a quick trip to Cancun and we took a tour of the GCR and Royal properties.  We loved the chapel at GCR and the terraces for the cocktail hours, but were way more impressed by the ballrooms at the Royal (they were grand and newer looking, especially the gathering space at the entrances, and inside they didn't smell like mold like the GCR ballrooms) so those are the 3 locations we are looking at for our events.  However, if my fiance's conversion classes aren't completed in time, we'll do an oceanfront gazebo.  Here are my questions/comments after doing the site inspection (we didn't do food tasting as we are going back in the fall to do this):

1) for the brides that have gotten married in the chapel, did you find that entering through the little door to the right of the chapel with the stairs felt awkward or ruined your big entrance at all? When we were there, it looked like you could enter the area by a door behind the chapel, past the little playground area and that seemed better to me.  Thoughts?

2) did any brides have trouble managing cathedral length veils at the chapel or during pictures on the beach given the wind and all?

3) Flora, the WC who gave us the tour was very explicit about us not being able to pick up flowers from outside vendors at the lobby or even outside the hotel.  She said we will absolutely get charged the outside vendor fee if any of our flowers are real (vs. fake/plastic) and we didn't purchase them from the resort.  I cannot believe that my mother wouldn't be able to just go out and buy flowers and bring them in to arrange them herself without us getting charged--I know lots of brides avoided this according to the posts, but Flora seemed pretty adamant.

4) I read that many brides were able to get a signature drink for the cocktail hour--is this in place of champagne and open bar so that all they will be serving are the signature drinks or is it in addition to the champagne or the open bar you can upgrade to?

5) It seems like brides have been pretty happy with the resort videographer but have gone for outside photographers--this is what I am looking to do but wanted to make sure that this has been the consensus.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

Hello from Cancun! We got here on Thursday and everyone is having a blast. On Friday most of our guests arrived so we had everyone meet in the lobby bar for two hours to meet. There was more than enough space to take over and it put everyone right into the celebratory mood. I definitely recommend it! Last night we had our rehearsal in the chapel which we led ourselves. Paying for that time was not at all necessary. Sunday mass is at 11 am so just avoid that time and other weddings. We had our rehearsal dinner on the beach with heavy apps. They were delicious. My favorite was the smoked salmon. Unfortunately I liked it less at 2 am when the food poisoning hit me. Ugh! I am taking it easy for a couple more hours until we have to get ready at 11, but feeling better enough. Fiancé and parents are everything too and were fine but I know of two others who got sick as well. Fortunately it's not as bad as Emily's experience and my parents friend had some strong antibiotics. We also had the mariachi band at the party last night which was great! Hair trial yesterday went well and our beach massage was to die for. Mani pedi wasn't great - she kept stabbing me with the cuticle tool. Oh well, price of beauty. Posting from my phone so sorry for rambling. More when we return next week.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
