What are you doing for flowers? I wanted to go with the resorr but they pricing seem hight to me. I reading on here they dont charge if you meet then at the lobby or outside?

We're getting married a week later (11/9/13) on the beach.  CAN'T WAIT!

As far as flowers go, I think I may go with what the resort offers.  But I am looking into making our own centerpieces.  I'm very simple and I know there are lots of DIY simple decor/centerpieces out there......now its all about finding the time to do it.

I just thought I mention this so no one else runs into the same problem......We thought we had booked our date, ceremony and reception areas and were all set to go back in February as that's when we had put down the deposit and confirmed with the resort that it was done......the other day we just got an email asking us to confirm where we wanted the ceremony, reception, and what package we wanted????? They never booked it!!!!!

Thank goodness it all still worked out, we sent the coordinator her last confirmation email from back in February (saying we were all booked in) and there are no other weddings booked in yet.....but still. Language wasn't an issue either as my FI has been emailing everything in Spanish and it's his first language........

Anyways - I doesn't hurt to double and triple check on things and keep all your emails.

Ughhhhhhhh final list for final payments was just mailed to me and I'm FURIOUS! Have they tried to double charge y'all for "upgrading" to a private reception? They're double charging me for champagne for everyone and cake ($20) even though we're only getting the free cake that feeds 20 people and some of our guests are kids who won't be drinking the champagne...AND THEN they charged us $15 extra dollars to have open bar at the cocktail hour...NEVER was this mysterious extra fee mentioned and now that I'm at 57 guests that's an extra $500+ they're trying to rip out of me for NOTHING! I'm soooo irritated!!

Yes, BS isn't it?  I wrote an email detailing all the extra bull charges they've added and the answer was basically "let me pass that on to my manager but there is nothing we can do". The one that especially ticked me off was the champagne and cake charge. I already ordered two cakes and the bar includes champagne. So when they told me to see it as a set up fee I was furious.

After an angry but professional phone call, they upgraded my room guaranteed as opposed to as available that was already included in our package. Big freaking deal...

I feel your pain. If this were in the states we'd have the better business bureau all over it. But honestly there is nothing we can do about it now and they know it. It's not like we can threaten to move the wedding.

Wait! Are you saying they refused to remove the BS charge? They want you to make believe its a set up fee when the line on the invoice says "champagne and cake"? I think my BP just went up!

Direct response from my WC (Claudy):

About Champagne toast… I really understand you but champagne toast it is mandatory in all our wedding packages…take this as the fee for all the staff we use during your whole event ( people who set up everything and chairs and all that kind of stuff)…

I didn't sleep last night because I'm so furious! Then call it what it is...A SET UP FEE...to which my answer is REALLY?? We're paying out the wazoo for alcohol at an all inclusive...twice in the instance of champagne and cocktail hour...there's your fee!! Sooooo flipping irritated!! And I REFUSE to pay for said mandatory champagne toast for the 12 teens and kids we're having who can't drink it anyways!! Ohhhhh the email I'm writing today!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
