2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi!  I just found and  joined this site like a few minutes ago.  I too am booked to get married at the GCR on Nov 9, 2013.  We're having our ceremony on the beach and the reception at the Albatros Terrace.  Is that the same as the Villa Terrace?  I noticed you just got married there last month!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  I wanted to ask how your reception was on the Terrace?  We debated on whether to choose the Terrace or beach for the reception.  We kinda figured that being in the sand all evening long might get a little annoying.  Could you share to a little bit about your experience with your planner, all employees at the resort, and your stay there?  Although my fiance is excited, he is a bit nervous about going to Mexico due to all the crime and violence that we hear.  Did you feel safe?  Was the resort well secured?  Did you ever venture out of the resort?  People who hear about us going to Mexico in Nov have been advising us to not leave the resort.  Makes me kinda nervous.....there are some off-site places I want to visit.  Hope I did bombarded you with to many questions.  Thx!

Girls who have recently submitted their final checklist... under the linens section, did you put order napkins or is that for some special upgraded color napkin? Same question for table cloths. My WC sent me the picture of the "standard" all white, but I'm wondering if that is free or if I need to add it to my checklist.

I lived in Cancan last year for 6 months doing an internship. I'm a white female who barely speaks Spanish and not once did I feel unsafe!! The news here blows everything out of proportion! Cancun and the Riviera Maya RELY on tourists so will therefore do everything they need to do to ensure we are safe! Obviously everyone should use their brains and not be overly "American" but there are honestly parts of my city (San Antonio) that I would be more scared of being in than anywhere in Cancun or the Riviera Maya!

I submitted my deposit to reserve my wedding date for January 25,2014. I got a confirmation email back stating that my wedding planner is now Estela. For brides that have been married or are planning their wedding - what has your experience been with Estela? Any and all information would be greatly appreciative !!! Also any information or tips from this point on would be great with communication with the wedding planner and organizing up until the big day !!!! Thanks so much !!

I just got the standard white package and that is the free package deal. I didn't actually pick any of that...Elsa just gave me the basic package which comes with the standard white napkins and table cloths. I can't see upgrading it to a colour....I am not picky about stuff like that.

Hi Mariposa6102!

Congrats to you!

I think the Albatros terrace is different from the Villas terrace. If i'm not mistaken that's the one with the green floor??? We didn't want to do the beach just coz I would like to wear my high heels and not be bothered with sand in my feet. Also I hear it's pretty windy next to the ocean at night. I am not a fan of wind in my hair and hair in my face, so we did the villas terrace. Why don't you confirm with your Coordinator the reception venues. They can show you pictures of all the different areas on the resort where you can hold the ceremony and the reception.

I have been to Mexico before and honestly, never felt unsafe. Everyone is very nice and you just have to be smart about things when you leave the resort. Just don't get stupid drunk and do stupid things to mess with locals and you'll be fine. It can happen anywhere, but as long as you are smart about things, you'll be fine.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
