On the website i included estimated prices, that state they will be finalized in the near future. The website also has the RSVP and commonly asked questions.

I had my STD and lists of my side completed and was just waiting on a final list. Most guests appreciate the early notice (even without a date) so they can start saving money if they want to come!

Hi ladies,

We really wanted to ensure our guests had the most time to save up/think about coming with us. We are getting married January 9th, 2013 in Playacar, Mexico. We ended up drafting an electronic STD that included the week we had chosen and our location in the Mayan Riviera (at the time, we were still negotiating the resort information etc). We wanted to send it out to get an idea of head count for our TA, this really helped to get us what I believe in the end to be an EXCEPTIONAL one week AI rate for a beautiful hotel (1225/pp for one week). We ended up going with the Iberostar Queztal in Playacar.. Although its not uber fancy like some of the other hotels on this site, we wanted something that had a little bit of everything because we have such a wide range of ages coming with us. We made the right choice as we now have 71 people who have placed a deposit to join us.

I will definitely be sending out formal paper invitations as I sell fine paper for a living and would be hung at high noon if I went 100% digital! haha, although we know how much some people appreciate receiving a formal invite. I say, even if you don't know your exact date sending out the STD as soon as you know location and general departure info really helps to get a good idea of who will be able to come...

How far in advance is everyone sending their invitations? And how much time is everyone leaving between the response date and the actual wedding date? I think about 3-4 weeks is the norm for "standard weddings" but I need to get my planning form back to the resort 45 days before the wedding ~ and SO much of what we are going to do depends on how many people are going to come.

My STDs were my invitations because I only sent them to the people I wanted to come. On the STDs I instructed people to RSVP through our wedding website. I made the response date 5 months before the wedding to "encourage" people to RSVP early or at the very least this will give me a good count of who's coming. I will also send out reminder emails and postcards to those that haven't at the 6 month mark.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
