2013 Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi HayMonBride ~  Thats so exciting that you're getting married on the 1st!  We'll be there at the same time!  I have tried to contact Nicole or Tiffany and haven't gotten any response.  I was having issues with legal paperwork and had to have my travel agent get responses from them but besides that, I've heard nothing.  I am doing almost all my research and planning off of this website.  I think I have almost everything planned and they will have to live with my schedule and plans.  If you have any specific questions, feel free to post and I will see if I've stumbled upon an answer in my searches.  :)  Are you almost all set to go?  What dates are you down there?  We are at the resort June 29th-July7th.

  • heather1214 ~  I was wondering if you were given the option of using the Huppah at the Lazy River location or if you can only use the arch.  I am having the same concern with the lack of privacy on the beach but I would like the Huppah.  Also what time was your ceremony?  Would you mind posting your schedule? Thanks!

Heather ~  I was wondering if you had an option to use the Huppah at the Lazy River location or if it was only the arch allowed there?  I am having the same concern with privacy at the beach location.  I would like to use a Huppah and have bought a lot of fabric to use with it.  Also what time was your ceremony?  Would you mind posting your schedule for your wedding day?  I am a month out exactly and have not heard from the WCs.  Just trying to plan everything on my own.  My tenative schedule is:

Formal Family Pictures: 5PM

Wedding Ceremony: 6PM

Cocktail Hour: 6:30PM

Dinner: 7:30PM

Private Reception at Blue Moon Bar: 8:30PM-10:30PM

Then Head to the Disco.

Just want to know if there are areas that need more time.  Thanks and Congrats!

They don't offer the Huppah at that location because there is no way to secure it as the teardrop is concrete.  I didn't bring anything to decorate the arch with except I got a large flower arrangement that doubled as my centerpiece on our sweetheart table.  The edge of the white material they used was a little yellow (from the sand probably).  No one will notice, but I'm OCD so of course I did!  You could certainly bring your own materials for them to use which would still make the arch look beautiful!

Our timeline was

4:30: Ceremony

5:00 Champagne Toast on Lazy River

5:30 Cocktail Hour

6:30 Reception at Calabash

It was rainy when we were there (nothing like our site visit last year, and it was the same week!) It rained for a couple hours every day sometime between 3:00-5:00.  They ended up having to dry off the whole area because it stormed at like 2-3:30 and I refused to have it inside unless it was actually raining during our ceremony time.  So we didn't start until almost 5:00.  Still had plenty of time for pictures and we went into the reception around 6:45.

I sent final wedding documents to Nicole and never heard back until we got there.  I just planned the day out on paper and wrote down exactly where I wanted everything.  If you are worried about how things will look, I highly receommend doing that.  Nicole did everything perfectly!  I'll work on a review this weekend so I can post pictures of the ceremony/reception set-up!

Hi Heather,  Thanks for the response.  That was my worry with the Huppah.  I am extremely OCD as well with this whole thing.  I have printed out pictures of how I want the ceremony site set up and just don't know how it will look at the Lazy River location.  I guess I will just have to wing it once I get down there. Did you privatize the Calabash?  We are torn between Aunt Ruby's and the Calabash (outside versus inside with AC).  What was the temperature in the evening?  Did you or your guests feel like it was too hot and muggy around 7pm to have an outside dinner?  Thanks for all the help,  as I am sure you understand how frustrating it is to plan with no responses from the WC.  I am sure they will do a great job down there but being so Type A, I want everything planned before I get there.  Thanks!

Oh man, I have so many questions.  For anyone who booked Dj Kevan or used Jamaica Wedding Dj Services, Do you have to pay the vendor fee to get them onto the resort?  Also when you pay for a private reception at Blue Moon Bar, which supposably includes a DJ for 2 hours, does that money go towards using Jamaica Wedding DJ services or is their fee on top of the $400 for the private reception?  Thanks!

We used Kevan and I HIGHLY recommend him!! He was so professional and was really fun!!  You don't pay a vendor fee for him, but his prices were separate from any DJ the hotel provides in a "package".   I know the packages at the Suites have changed from what I was given so I would double check on that.  Kevan was separate from the hotel, he is just their preferred vendor. (We made our deposit to him directly and paid him the balance in cash)

I think the fee's are just to rent it out so no other guests can enter (it was $800 just to rent Calabash privately with 2012 pricing, that didn't include anything!)

My pleasure!!  The hardest part of doing everything is putting it together in your mind!  We did Calabash in private.  I will say, it was pretty hot in there.  We asked to have the air turned up but it never really cooled down.  Our whole group danced from start to finish though so it was expected!  We did dinner at Aunt Rubys with our group one night.  It was comfortable, but then again we didn't get up and dance so I can't say if it would be to warm.  It was pretty and you got a breeze from the ocean though!

Hi Lana! We arrive on the 26th and are staying through to the 7th, so looks like we'll be there the entire time together!  Are you on the FB group for the brides? There's a closed group on there that is great with getting answers to things too.  My travel agent has spoken to them and I know we're confirmed, but my TA just told me to call them instead of emailing, and I'd probably catch them faster.  How many people do you have coming down? We have 55, the only (main) question I have had was about Calabash, I have multiple documents that all have different minimums for the amount of people that need to be there so I'm not sure if they'll approve us to go there since the last dated document I have says a minimum of 70.  I hope they let us, Calabash is what I indicated on my last wedding details sheet, so fingers crossed! Yay! Time is flying by!!!!! Joanna

We had our reception in calabash (in AC) and it was still hot in there! it was much hotter outside and it rained that afternoon. maybe because I was in a wedding dress but I couldn't image dancing at an outside restaurant/location.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
