Recommended Posts

Good catch Allie! I realized that it wasn't ran by the resort earlier today. My photographer, Stacey Clarke is one of creators. I'm excited, between this site and that FB site, planning will a little easier : )

What does the hotel have, if anything? And did you bring stuff down or rent it from someone down there, thanks!

I brought everything from home.  The only items provided are what is spelled out in the package.  There was nothing really that the resort had for me to use.  The restaurant would have the standard centerpiece if you choose not to bring or rent anything.  I think most of them were a small vase with a single flower.  I had 3 large suitcases that I took that were all wedding items.  I had everything you mentioned, plus all of my flowers, centerpieces, etc. with me.  I had a lot of stuff, but I am so glad that I brought it all.  Paying for the baggage on the plane was cheaper than paying for centerpieces and other decor.  There are carts to load your luggage on in Montego Bay, so we didn't even really have any trouble getting through the airport with it all.  That was my biggest fear, and it was really pretty easy.

Hi Mary - I am thinking about booking the weekend before.  Any concerns about hurricanes  / bad weather around that time?

I recently booked my date at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach for 11-12-13 (cool date, huh?).  I am also considering the Suites, but really want to make it reasonable for our guests to attend the wedding.  We are thinking we will have about 30 + people attending.  I've been getting mixed reactions from family about having a destination wedding, but I've read that will happen.  Mostly everyone is very excited to be going to Jamaica for our wedding.

I've read that people have had trouble keeping in contact with the WC there and I absolutely agree.  I sent back my wedding agreement along with a copy of a credit card and having received confirmation that they received.  It's just a little scary knowing they have our information and our wedding is still over a year away.

I've also read that some of you have gotten prices for the packages for 2013?  Is that true?  I was told that the prices haven't come out for 2013 yet, so they sent me the 2012 prices.  f anyone has that info and would like to share it, that would be wonderful!

We're booked for May 29, 2013 at IRHS woot2.gif

After reading this thread, I know longer believe I'm being overly obsessed ! It's comforting to know that there are other people out there that might be sending the same email to Nicole twice daily just to get a response. lol. To touch base on  a few things I've read, when it comes to a TA ... everyone should realize that this website is set up by Wright Travel Agency !! I have decided to go with them, and I must say ... It's been painless so far. My TA is Barbara (Babs) Vong, an she's been super quick about getting back to me and answers every question even if I've already asked it twice !  I've checked out several other brides rates, and I'm happy to say mine are the same or slightly cheaper :) Just wanted to add a quick note, because I did read something that bothered me .... If you have hired a TA that doesn't offer any perks ... you are being duped !! It seems that Iberostar offers the perks not the TA (as mine are the same as most), and you should automatically get them .... so don't sign a contract without them ! Contact info for Babs ... barbara@wrighttravelagency.com

I've also hired Rashel Edwards and partner for airbrush makeup, lash extensions and hair for myself and bridal party. She's quite reasonable, considering she is coming to you from Kingston which is like 3+ hours away ! I did tons of research on her, and it would seem she's pretty amazing :) To anyone that considers using her, it's a little nerve-racking at first. She requires a deposit, and has you moneygram it to her. I did this online, and moneygram stopped my transaction, making me call them. When I called they asked me if I really wanted to send money to someone I didn't know, (which if this doesn't make you paranoid I don't know what will !!!) But you just have to trust it I guess. Anyways ... everything worked out, and she emailed me an invoice a few days later. She literately answers emails in minutes, like I refresh my inbox and her response is there. Check out her work, you can find reviews on her just about anywhere. Contact info for Rashel ... makeupartistry1@hotmail.com

I decided to go with artificial flowers for a couple different reasons. 1.) They are actually waaaaay cheaper ! 2.) I can take them home !! (can't take real flowers through customs) 3.) I got a response back right away :) ... which if anyone has tried getting ahold of Tai Flora, you may already know this is almost if not worse than trying to contact Nicole. I wanted a certain type of bouquet (green and purple orchids and white roses) and this would have been twice the amount if I went real. I read on other threads about women spending on average about $1000+ ... no thanks, I will spend half for premium real touch flowers (these flowers look and feel real !) My bouquet, 4 Bridesmaids bouquets, Groom bout, 3 Groomsman bout, 2 mother's corsage, 2 fathers bout. Anyways, like I said ... these people got back to  me rather quickly ... and my nerves really need that :) Check out Sharonnagassardesigns.com

Oh and ... for anyone that has thought about using Rose Hall Manor for pictures. If you haven't heard of it, it's the place that has the aqueduct and mansion. I contacted them about doing pictures there because I liked the idea of the background. Two days later, I got a response that they charge $250 an hour, which includes a golf cart for 4 and driver to get around. They recommend 2 hours ... 1 for Manor, 1 for Aqueduct. Two days after that, I received an email from someone else on the grounds telling me it was $350 and hour .... uhhhhhhh, that's interesting ??? Anyways ... I realized ... there is no way in hell I would pay $700 or even $500 to take pictures there ... I'm paying a lot of money for my photographer and I'm not trying to tack on another $700 !!! I'm positive I will get amazing pictures and won't even think twice about that place !

I'll make sure to share any new experiences as they come ... anybody has questions feel free to ask :) Congrats to all !!!

sfox4214, are you comfortable sharing Rachel Edwards prices? I would also like airbrush, lashes, and hair but just for myself.

Shauna 253, I'm at the Beach not the suites, but we get $1500 in travel credits for every 16 people that we bring (1 free person minus taxes for every 16 people). We maxed this out and get $6000 in travel credits. We are spending $2000 of this to bring our photographer (no money out of our pocket and she charges nothing if we pay for travel fees). My fiance and I will be spending the week at the Beach for free (still have to pay taxes of $300 pp), and the rest we are using to lower the prices for 9 of our guests who booked later and are paying a higher fee than other guests.

We booked with Sunquest to get this perk. With WestJet I believe it was 1 free trip (minus taxes) for every 25 people you bring, and other tour companies had 1 free for 18 or 19. But they also had different base prices, so its worth doing all of the math!

Looks like standard package is ... round trip transfers fro Montego Bay airport, book 20 passengers and the 21st passenger is free, free upgrade for bride and groom, private check in if group arrives at the same time, welcome drink upon arrival, and special appreciation dinner

This is pretty much the same stuff i've been seeing ... however I did notice some people only had to book 15 passengers :)

I believe the price was $240 for airbrush, lashes, hair and travel ...but you would have to double check with her. 2 people come out, as she only does make-up and has someone else to do hair.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
