Hello everyone,

another newby has joined this awesome forum. I've been reading thru this forum and I love all the advance everyone is giving each other, so I hope someone might has some for me.

Me and my fiance are planning our destination wedding for 11-10-12, but we are still torn on where to have it. We looked at Dominician Republic & Jaimaica. We have about 25-30 people and they have a budget of about $1,000 that is incl. flight. My questions is, can anyone could give me some advice on how to tackle this task and where to start. I would love to get married by the beach, small resort, nothing too overly commercial.

Thank you so much in adance,

Congratulations and welcome to the forums!

Well.. first thing you need to do is choose a location and resort. This article is written for the Mayan Riviera area but is good for your use as well. Have a read!

Best of luck with all your plans.

Congrats & welcome to BDW!! I love your avatar - is that your proposal?? DREAMY!

We chose Mexico vs. DR or Jamaica. Cost was our main factor - DR and Jamaica were more expensive for most of our guests. It all depends on where you are traveling from though.

I would go to both the DR and Jamaica sections of this forum and start reading the reviews of the resorts. Then go to those forums and read the threads from past brides. A good travel agent who specializes in DW's is helpful as well - so you may want to look into that. Good luck with all of your decisions!

Thank you so much girls.

Yeah i think we are leaning more towards DR - I'm in love with the Zoetry resort, its just so beautiful. Thank you guys for being so super nice and helpful. I really appreciate it.

@AllieH - Yep that was my proposal in Berlin on Christmas Day in front of the Brandenburger Tor. it was just perfect. There is nothing better than getting engaged in your home town. (=

Welcome! For us cost was a huge factor in deciding on a location and resort.  We worked closely with a travel agent who helped us narrow down a location.  I suggest using a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
