Shoes or no shoes?

Recommended Posts

I think it depends where your ceremony is being held.  For example, our ceremony was in a gazebo with a stone walkway.  It would be pretty hard for me to go barefoot.  I think if you are getting married on the beach in soft sand, then absolutely you can go barefoot!

I think going barefoot in the sand looks really pretty, but I'm not sure I could do it.  I wear high heels every day, so I wouldn't feel like myself without them.  I'm also super short, so I need at least a little something to keep me from looking like a child in pictures.  I'll probably go for dressy wedges, so I won't be digging into the sand, but I'll still have heels on.

We are getting married on the beach, but I am wearing wedges for the ceremony, then changing into heels for the reception. I am a foot shorter than my fiance so I didnt want to look so small in all of our pictures. Any time I am remotely dressed up (going out with friends and even work), I wear heels, so I cant imagine not wearing heels. Plus, I didnt want to get my dress hemmed for my wearing heels at the reception and not be able to walk down the isle easily because my dress was too long.

We opted for the wood walk way that will go all the way up to the alter, so myself and my fiance will be standing on it throughout the duration of the ceremony.

We used this walk way at the El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I really did aid in my walking down the isle in wedges, rather than trudging through the sand. I think it was $150 to rent and it ended up looking slightly different. Instead of the wooden slats lying horizontally across the isle, as in the picture, they actually ran long ways down the isle. The entire isle was comprised of sections of the slats. So not quite what was pictured but still useful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
