Playacar Palace Wedding - Photographers ????

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

We're getting married at the Playacar Palace in April & had a question about photographers - we've been under the impression that we can only use the photogs provided by the resort & were not able to bring in outside photographers - does anyone know if that's the case?   I've read on some threads here that some people simply purchased a day pass for an outside photographer & that was ok with the resort?

Are the resort photogs any good?  Any suggestions on outside photogs we could bring in?   Thanks for your help!

It is always best to check with your wedding coordinator as resort policies regarding vendors can change from month to month! Sometimes even bride to bride. Play hard ball with them and insist that you want to bring in your own photographer and most times they will allow it for the cost of a day pass. Get this information in writing and keep the email! (Tip of the year!! )

If photography is important to you... do not rely on the resort photographers to capture your day. I can tell you from experience you will have no idea of who you get, who's work you are viewing for samples, the equipment is sub-par and most are not very good. Find a local photographer here in Playa del Carmen that you like and can work within your budget. If you love the work... you will love your wedding photos.. but please go with an outside vendor.

Take care and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Linkn -

We've been told that the Smile Market are the ones handling the photos for the resort - do you have any information (good or bad) about them?  Are they any good ?  The samples on their website are limited and don't really seem to be what we're looking for.

by the way - we've already tried to contact you and you are unfortunately booked :(

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

THX!

Congrats!

I would have to agree with Lincoln, stick to your guns.  It is your special day and you need to be able choose the photographer that you think will best capture your essence and style!  There are always creative ways around outside vendor rules such as guest passes or having your photog stay overnight as an invited guest.  Speak honestly to your wedding coordinator, voice your concerns, and emphasize how important this item is for you!

As for rating photographers, check out the WIKI I put up about Choosing Your Wedding Photographer. It will give you tips and insights on how to judge photographer's work and find the right one for you.

Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
