I just looked at the packages, and I cant believe how good the prices are! I think we will probably book there! Thanks for letting me know there were packages online, I didnt even see that when I was checking out their prices. Are you using any of the local vendors or just going with what the resort has?

We are just going with the resort for anything. I believe the riu is pretty sticky on having outside vendors... and I have seen pics that their photographer has taken and I have seen the flowers the florist has made and they are all amazing so i cant imagine paying even more for nothing! The only thing i might go outside for is my hair. I dont know though; the package we got is the Caprice and I get my hair hair nails and pedicure done there for free and my girls get a 10% discount. (which I will be paying for). What date are you thinking of?

ok thats good to know that the resort might be a bit tricky to work with when it comes to outside vendors. where did you see pictures of the flowers, etc? we are getting married Feb 2013, so i have a while still but i want to book in a couple months so i dont have to worry about it anymore.

We're staying at the Riu Santa Fe for our wedding, but we're actually having our wedding off the resort at the Sunset Da Mona Lisa.  It definitely costs more in the long run, but I am a type A when it comes to planning parties.  I couldn't handle the thought of not being able to pick my own vendors and not be in control of my wedding.  A good friend of mine stood in a wedding at the Santa Fe and she said it was amazing! but you need to be pretty laid back.  She said the weddings take place near the infinity pool and that there will be people standing around watching your wedding (maybe you can ask for a more private location?). I think that's the case with having your wedding at any resort, but I think the photographers are usually pretty good at getting them out of your pictures!

If anyone wants to know about outside vendors I've done lots of research, and can recommend some really good vendors. Such as hair and makeup, Suzanne Morel, she's really not that much more expensive than the salon at the resort, maybe $10 more - but you have to leave the resort, but you will be guaranteed to have amazing hair and makeup!  I've been to other resort hair dressers and had to practically show them how to curl my hair.  I've search blogs and blogs of many different photographers and have not seen one of Suzanne Morels brides who did not look stunning!

Also my recommendations is to read tripadvisor reviews until your blue in the face.  I read them every couple nights now!  I feel like I know the resort like the back of my hand!  I know what I can expect in terms of good and bad.  The bad is usually over reacting hoity-toity people who should probably not be staying in an all-inclusive resort with a price point as low as the Santa Fe!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
