2013 Grand Palladium Jamaica Brides

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! We are getting married at GP May 2 2013 on the beach at 4pm. We haven't decided on the reception location yet. I really wanted the Blue Lagoon but after reading some reviews, we may go with the Poseidon as well. I have not seen any pictures or know what it is like at all! I just sent in my deposit today so I am really hoping they got it as I am also putting my deposit down with my TA to secure 20 rooms at the resort. Still contemplating on whether or not we will pay for a photographer(not really sure what is included in our package) or if we will pay for a DJ. Initially I was thinking we would bring our IPOD but the resort charges $500 to use their dock and speakers anyway. So for an extra 500 a DJ may be the way to go? What are you all doing?

I have just booked my group to go to the GPLH next April 2013, and am very concerned because no one at the resort is responding to my ceremony/reception request.

Did anyone call someone at the resport directly?  Does anyone have a contact name and phone number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I would hate to have all of my friends and family give in their deposits and not even be able to have my wedding that week!!

Thanks in advance :)

We are planning on getting married the end of May 2013.  When you use a travel agent and book more than so many room did you get anything free?  I was told if you book 5 or more rooms our wedding is free. lol Did you pay for your wedding package through your travel agent or separate?  Do you know if the reception is the same price for each place?  It seems silly to have to pay $40 a person at an all exclusive place.  Sorry about all the questions!  I am just getting started with all this!

Hello Ladies.  I was just looking at our thread, and hardly anyone posts.  I have to get on here more.  Updates:  Sent STD's, and ordered my dress ( Yeah!).  Heard from GP that Ms. Carian is no longer a WC with them, so I am now working with someone else.  Is everyone working with a travel agent?  Do you have group airline rates and hotel rates?  I am so confused.  Please advise.

Hope everyone's planning is going well.

Hi ladies!  So sorry for the late reply.  I have been very very very busy lately and completely forgot about my earlier post.

I booked my group travel rates through selloffvacations.com where we all got a great deal.  And I have been dealing with the resort directly for my wedding details. I emailed the resort, not kidding you, 5 times with no response.  I finally called and spoke with Shaniece Morris.  She booked me in the very last 4pm time slot available the week of April 20th-April 27th.  I am so glad that I called instead of waiting or else I would have been stuck with a morning wedding :s

Anyways.  I have booked the cliff top gazebo, Tuesday April 23, 2013 at 4pm.  I have also booked the Blue Lagoon for a private dinner reception afterwards.  The cost is $45/per person for the private dinner reception, and go up from there.  I have attached the menu list for you all to take a look.

I have booked with True Colours Photography, who is the resorts photographer.  If you email them, they will send you their rates.  I decided to hire them because I did want some professional photos taken.

For all of you decidingwhere to have your private reception, I have seenboth Posiedon and Blue Lagoon as I was at the resort 2 years ago.  Posiedon is quite a walk down hill near the beach, but very private.  It has more of a beach house/cottage feel to it.  The Blue Lagoon looks over the infitinity pool and the ocean.  Sunsets are amazing for both locations.  I chose the Blue Lagoon because it is a little fancier.

Shanience told me that my wedding coordinator wouldn't be assigned to me until 2 months before the wedding.  So I have been asking her a lot of questions and bugging her about a lot of things.  Sometimes I won't get a response for a week, but she always gets back to me.

I'm trying not to worry too much about it, hopefully everything will work out as planned!

Any questions, just let me know :)

Amanda

Hello fellow 2013 Brides!

I am happy to say we have booked the date, and will be getting married April 9th/2013 at 4pm we also decided to go with the gazebo ceremony and 6pm reception at the blue lagoon. We are in the process of deciding on our photographer, we have decided to do a "trash the dress" the following day. Anybody else up to take the plunge? :)

Amanda when you were at the resort a few years ago did you by any chance try the steak? I am picking out our meal options for the invitations and I really really would love to have the Filet Mignon but I am also a little nervous as I am unsure of how the food quality is at the resort.

HI.  I was there in March and my FI and I both had steak at the Italian Restaurant.  It was fantastic!  I did not eat at Bubba's, but I heard that the steak is even better there.  Hope that helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
