As far as i know if you paid for a plated meal they don;t charge you for the reception.  I had my wedding at the poseidon and was only charged for the plated meal and wedding package I had choosen. Happy Planning!

Hey everyone!

I just stumbled across this forum while doing some searching.  I am getting married at the GP on April 30 - which is right around the corner!  We are in the final stages of planning everything and wanted to see if anyone had some feedback/suggestions/must haves?

We only have ~20 people total attending.  Ceremony is at 2pm at the Gazebo and we wanted to have a steel drum band play at either the ceremony or a cocktail hour.  Did anyone use the steel drum band - would you recommend them?  We are going to do a non-private dinner at one of the restaurants (it's just not worth it to us to do the private dinner, especially considering the limited menu available).  Any suggestions on the restaurants?  Then we plan on just partying around the hotel the rest of the night!

We want to keep everything simple and stress free.  Would love to hear any recommendations from the brides that have already gone through the process.

So this pretty much goes out to everyone as I'm struggling with booking my group rate through a Travel Agent for the Grand Palladium and could use some perspective on what others are doing/have done.

I understand that the resort directs you to contact their official booker, Fiesta Hotel Group, but has anyone booked through Vacation Store Miami? Their rates online are cheaper, but I'm not clear if they offer group rates or not.

Also for anyone having larger groups, did you contract directly with the resort (fiesta hotel group) for your group rates or go through a travel agent?

And, last but not least, does anyone have a travel agent that they used and could recommend?

Thanks Everyone!

Any luck so far? If not feel free to ask me as were both having large weddings

I had the steel drum band and everyone really enjoyed it:). Also, the Italian restaurant was my fav, we went there a few times and loved it more each time!

Steel Band is amazing! But if you choose to have other songs playying as well, its not worth it. They rushed me out of the ceremony so we didnt hear the steel band for an hour. I also wanted other music inbetween, walking down the aisle after we were married and while we signed the papers.) Overall i didnt feel like $350.00 was worth it considering We didnt even get our full hour!!

I had 18 epople and we choose a sitdopwn private dinner.  All the restaurants on good depending what you like!

my advice if you dont like cts dont choose the italian.

Hi All!! One thing I did is to ask the wedding dept to email your full wedding contract to you. (Once closer to your date). It broke down all the fees, payments, services, reception info, how many guests and the charge for additional guests over 8 (children under 12 are free) as well as any decorations, flowers, bouteineers , corsages etc.. It really helped me to make sure things were in order and to make sure you are not over charged .. Hope this helps:) I have less than a month to go !!! I cant wait!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
